Dear Molly...

Dear Molly,

We never got the chance to meet but I feel like I've known you my whole life. You are a kind, warm-hearted woman who cares for all the children sent into her care, even for a matter of moments. You love equally with no bounds, and your house is always open, even when you have no room left. You are also strong, and brave, and will fight for your family to your last breath.

These are all qualities I admire, but am also thankful for because you saved my son from a life of loneliness. You opened your home for him whenever he needed it, and even when he didn't, and the love he found there has made him into the man he is today. Without you, my son, my Harry wouldn't have known the love of a mother's touch.

Ever since you first helped my son onto Platform 9 and ¾, you have been the mother to him that I never got the chance to be. Every year he went through something difficult or needed help, you were always there for him like I wanted to be. You have treated him like your own and that is something I will never finish being grateful and thankful for.

Although we never got the chance to meet face to face – you had finished school before I had started, and I'd died before our boys ever met – I like to think that we could have been wonderful friends; bonding over our boys' mistakes, and getting equally furious at them for doing the stupid things they did.

Since I can't thank you in person for everything you've done for him (and for James and me – as inadvertent as it may be), I wrote this letter to express every drop of gratitude and love we have for you.

So now, I'm watching over Fred like you've been watching over my Harry all these years.

Love,
Lily Potter

P.S. I understand your pain; having to watch over Fred, James, Sirius, Remus and Tonks (because she's just as bad) is like having five impish children of my own.

P.P.S. Message from Fred to George: Up your pranking game, Georgie. Don't stop managing mischief just because I'm not there.
