Somehow, my best friend Tigger had roped me into coming to his big birthday bash. This year's theme? PlayStation. The company had asked--no, begged--Tigger to be the spokesperson after Xbox released its newest game console. And guess who just had to come to see his new house? Me.
Tigger and I met a few years back, when I was first getting ahead in the big glamorous world of Hollywood. He had seen me at a party, "accidently" spilled a drink on me, tried to hit on me, but I was on a date with you-know-who at the time. We have been best friends ever since. Don't get me wrong, Tally is my best friend, also, but Tigger is the guy I can always come to with guy advice.
"Jadeeeee!" Tigger exclaims as I walk through the massive swinging kitchen doors. "Babe!" He throws his arm around me.
"Did you just call me babe?" I joke, him turning me around right back out to the gigantic living area where a crowd has developed around the 72 inch plasma, surrounding the one and only Ayden Tyler. "What is he doing here?"
"He got invited by the publicity people with PlayStation. They made me invite him, J," he shrugs sadly. He lifts my tilted chin. "Cheer up, Jade. Don't worry about him! This is a party! And, we got to dance."
"Don't you forget about the last time I beat you at your own game!" I exclaim, suddenly perking up. I've always had a secret little crush on Tigger. I mean, he's Tigger Manciotti. He sells out stadiums just on his looks alone. Plus, this boy can sing! "Remember Just Dance?" He pounds his fist up to his chest.
"Ah! You killed me!" he exclaims. He quickly recovers. "I have practiced, and I will beat you this time." He buffs up. "I'm not afraid to beat a girl."
"Oh, really," I tease him, leading him to another plasma screen that's been set up by all around the room. PlayStation really goes all out when they have to compete with the top gaming console company in the world.
'I press start and click my favorite song in the entire world. He raises his eyebrow at me.
"Black Eyed-Peas? Really?" he snorts.
"Hey! They have some really good songs!" I defend myself. "Are you afraid you're going to lose?"
"No, I can dance to anything. Just watch," he winks, sliding off his jacket. There is already a crowd forming around us to watch.
Some magazines have been questioning the meaning of our relationship, if we're really friends, more than friends, or just friends with benefits. Tigger, no. He has a girlfriend. Or, mulitiple girlfriends. He's kinda known for being a playboy, much like all of Hollywood boys.
The music plays and the basic moves are given out. We both first get it together and then the music starts to pick up. Soon, the dance moves get more challenging. Tigger falls behind but soon catches up.
A figure appears out of the corner of my eye. He looms at the head of the crowd, smiling and laughing while Tigger and I are in the zone. Soon, the whole party crowds around us. But Ayden Tyler does not budge, staying at the head of the crowd. The game beeps and it announces Tigger the winner. He shouts in delight.
"What did I tell you?" He belts out we are the champions tune. "Oh yeah, I'm the winner." I congratulate him and step down off the game plate. Some D-Lister steps on, challenging another D-Lister.
"Wow, never knew you were such a good dancer." Ayden claps his hands in modest surprise. I blush.
"I'm just a girl with many layers," I crack a smile. He laughs and shakes his head.
"You've really changed since the last time I saw you," he says, letting his dimples loose. "I've missed you. And now that Dale Morris has cast the both of us as leads in his next movie, then I can't help but think that this is fate." I roll my eyes
"I am not falling for this again. Just go away, Ayden," I shake my head and spin around. He frowns.
"I'll guess I will see you on Monday," he smirks. I turn around quickly to face him, and he smiles slyly. "See you around, Jade."
