"So, he just dumped her?" Maggie exclaims as I shut my locker and start walking in the direction of third period. "Ethan and Mindy broke up?" I nod. "Well, why?" she asks. She shakes her hands. "Whatever. So that means he's free! He's free to ask you out!" I shake my head.

"I don't think he likes me like that. We're just friends," I shrug sadly.

"He has to ask you out!" she exclaims.

As if on cue, Ethan walks up to his locker right in front of us. He looks at me with a frown and then turns into a smile.

"Hey, there," he coos. He smiles. He steps closer. Maggie gasps as she walks back, with Scott to catch her.

"What are you doing?" I smile, playing it off as a friendship thing.

"Well, even though you ran off on me last night, I still like you," he says. He pushes back a strand of my hair for some reason and frowns and then shakes it off. He takes my hand again and walks me to class. When we get there and the wanring bell rings, he turns to face me. "I'll text you the details of our date tonight." He winks. I quickly turn around and walk hurriedly into AP English 11. I sit down as soon as the bell rings, my (or this other person's) Sidekick buzzes.

Tally: Shane was on another date with another girl. Not you. What's up?

Alright, I must be getting pranked by Madelyn or someone because I do not or have ever known someone named Tally or Shane. Well, except for my cousin's boyfriend, Shane. But that's beside the point.

Shane: Dinner tonight?

Shane. This must be the Shane. Who's phone is this?

"Hey," Ricky says as he sits down next to me. "Wanna go out tonight?" he asks suddenly, snapping me out of my trance.

"What?" I ask in surprise. Then I remember that he was set up to ask me. Maybe this is for the best. But then, I remember Ethan just planned out our supposed "date" tonight that I knew nothing about.

"Sorry to surprise you," he blushes and turns back into his seat. He sneaks a quick glance at me.

Halfway through the class, I slip a sheet of paper to him. He opens it and smiles and nods in happiness.

I hit reply to Shane.

Jade: Can't. Sorry.

I quickly wiggle my green sundress with a Hollister bird logo on the corner and adjust my mascara in my make-up mirror. Madelyn comes down the stairs and eyes me up and down sitting on the couch.

"What, you're going to some sort of church or you have a date," she snorts. I give her a look. "A date!" she exclaims positively as she comes to sit next to me. "With who?" she inquires.

"No one in your concern," I say, looking down at my dress, wringling with my phone in my hands.

"Fine, be that way. I'll find out some other way."

"Ricky!" I blurt out. "Happy, now?" She smiles.

"Ooh, Ricky. The baseball player, right?" she clarifies. I nod. "Nice one, sister." I give her a look. "Whatever. Ricky is a nice guy. Keep ahold of him," she winks and leaves the room, and as if on cue, the doorbell rings. I rush to open the door. When I see who it is, my shoulders shrink. "Hi, Georgie, Mindy."

"Oh, hello," Georgie waves her hands, rolling her eyes as she invites herself in, Mindy following suits. Her eyes shoot daggers towards me as she walks by.

"Excuse me?" I ask in shock. Mindy stares at me innocently. Madelyn comes back into her room.

"What's going on?" Madelyn asks in confusion. "Skye, where's Ricky?" Mindy snorts. Madelyn glares at her.
