Pairing: Football player! Ethan x reader

Summary: (Y/n) isn't like your normal everyday girl, she loves football but isn't aloud to play because of her gender. She decides to stand up against that. Will she make the team?

Warning(s): a few football jerks, and swearing I think.

Ethan's POV

I was busy doing my stretches for the football try outs. Every year I am the captain of the team, so I wasn't nervous at all. "Hey man, what is she doing here?" Mark asked pointing behind me. I looked over and saw (y/n) a slim girl with long light brown hair. It was neatly tied into a high pony with little strands hanging in her face. She was sweating from jogging around the field. She stopped right in front of me, using her knees as support.

I turned back around and looked at Mark. "She is probably doing try outs for a cheerleader" I said getting ready to jog around the field. "If your talking about me your wrong" I heard a sweet voice from behind me say. I turned around, she was standing with a baby blue water bottle in her hand. She took a long sip from the visibly cold water. "Oh really, are you just watching us work out?" I ask walking closer to her. "No" she shook her head "I'm trying out for the football team" she said taking another sip of her water bottle

Me, Mark, Tyler and the rest of the men started laughing our asses off, as she just stood there unamused by us. "You" I pointed at her "belong there" I then pointed to the cheerleader team. She once again just stared at us. "Yeah no girls are aloud to be in a BOYS team" Tyler said. She shook her head and said. "Nope, I read the whole rule book, nothing about girls not being able to play" she started to stretch, as she was doing this I made time to examine her clothes. She was wearing a tight pink tank top with black leggings, her shoes matched the colour of her shirt.

"Oh such a same, a girl as hot as you using her time to read" Alex said walking closer to her. He was about to place his hands on her hips when someone yelled. "Hey (y/n)" she smiled and jogged of to Megan, one of the most weird and pretty girls in the school. Megan is known for doing karate, her dark brown hair is always in a high ponytail, and she has ocean blue eyes. (Y/n) sat down next to her and started talking.

They were two of the strangest people I have ever met. I started to once again get ready to jog around the field, this time Mark and Alex with me.

(Y/n) POV

I saw Alex walking closer to me. He was about to place his hands on my hips when I heard a very familiar voice yell my name. I look over my shoulder and there stood Megan my best friend. I smiled and jogged over to her.

We sat down and talked. "Don't look but Ethan is looking at you" she said with a smirk. I laughed "he isn't really impressed by me" I said looking at my hand then back at her. "He thinks you belong at the cheerleaders?" She asked. I nodded. "Well then you gotta prove them wrong" she smiled. I looked back and saw a few guys getting ready to go jog around the field. "I'm going to join them" I said pointing to the boys. "See you later" she said as I walked back to them

I stood next to Ethan and he looked at me. "What?" I ask not looking at him. "You are going to try and beat us?" He ask, I simply said. "I won't need to try, I'll just do" I said as we started to jog.

*Time skip*

We've been running around field for about 15 minutes getting around it 6 or 7 times. I walked back to my bag and got my water bottle and took a long sip of it, the cold water cooling me of and bringing my breath back. They stop just a few seconds after me falling onto the ground, slowly trying to get to there bottles. I walk to there bags and took there water bottles out handing them to each one of them. I looked at Ethan who was sitting upright, he looked at me and I slowly gave him his black bottle. He stood up and took the bottle from me irritated for taking so long.

I went to sit down with Megan, she looked up from her phone and smiled. "I got you winning on a video" she laughed. I giggled "Now I can torment him for the rest of his life that I won" I replied. I was about to say something when I was interrupted by the couch yelling. "Come on ladies get up and on the field" he had a strong, loud voice.

I ran up to the field and stood next to the guys. Coach slowly approached me "What?" He asked chuckling and looked the guys. "I think you're in the wrong place" He laughed. I only shook my head "No coach, I'm here for the FOOTBALL try outs" I said annoyed. "Its not allowed" he said standing straight trying to look intimidating

Before I could tell him otherwise Alex interrupted "Oh no sir, she read the whole rule book there is nothing about a girl not being allowed to play" he said in a girly voice. I rolled my eyes "exactly what he said, just without the sarcasm and bad girl voice" I said bluntly. "No, I'm not going to have a girl on my team, it will make us look weak" he said "Please s--" "No" he said rudely interrupting me. "You don't know what I can do, let me just show you, please sir" I begged. He looked at me then the team. "Fine" he said. I jumped up and down with happiness.

"Okay ladies, I need you to run around the field to see how many laps you can do in 10 minutes" he said. I got into ready when I saw Ethan stand next to me. "You're going down" he whispered, I scoffed "sure". We stood and waited for the loud sound of the whistle. After a few seconds the loud sound rung in our ears. I started running fast, but not fast enough to tire me out to quickly.

*time skip 5 minutes later*

I was about 3 times around and the boys only 2 I stopped at the beginning of my 4th lap "What are you doing" ask Ethan. "Giving you a full lap without me running with you" I replied. "What" all the guys asked. "She is giving you a change to get more laps then here, Run!" Coach yelled. I laughed and waited for them to run a lap.

I saw Ethan getting closer when he was next to me I started running again. "So who is going down now?" I ask keeping up with the tired brunette. "Well you just had a break" he said breathing heavily. "Not my problem" I smiled picking up my pace. "You coming" I ask looking back at Ethan. "No, I'm good" he said slowing down a bit. I laughed and ran further

*Time skip*

We were finally done with the try outs, I was so nervous, I didn't know if I was going to get in. He told us the names and I didn't hear my name. I felt sad but that is when I heard something I never thought I would hear.

"And our captain is (y/n) (l/n)" I looked around making sure this was all real. "Oh my goodness" I heard Megan yell running over to me. I never thought I would be the CAPTAIN.

I went to my bag and took my water bottle, Megan and I walked away from the field when I heard my name being called. I looked around and saw Ethan jogging to me. I looked at Megan who had a smirk "see you at Starbucks" she said. "See you at 6" I replied. We shared a hug and she walked off.

"Hey Ethan" I said as he stood next to me. "Congrats on being captain" he smiled. "Thanks Ethan" I smiled. "I didn't mean to take your place" I said, he laughed 'oh, his laugh' I thought. "I knew you would get it, from the moment you out ran us" he said

We sat on the green grass and talked for a while. I saw that it was 5 and stood up. "Sorry Ethan, I need to meet Megan at Starbucks" I smiled. "Yeah I need to get home" he replied. "Bye Ethan" I said walking away

"Wait" I hear Ethan yell. "Yeah" I turned around. "Uhh, will you uhh go out with me on a date" he asked lifting his left hand to his neck scratching it nervously. I giggled. "Yeah sure Ethan, how about tomorrow, 10 o'clock?" I ask. "Yes that's perfect, I'll pick you up, where something casual" he smiled.

"Will do, see you tomorrow, bye Ethan" "bye (y/n)" he said. I turned around and headed to Starbucks, ready to tell Megan everything.
