This will be a short chapter, as I wanted to write the whole apartment scene from Aryssi's POV, I thought it would be cool to get that scene from her eyes. The next chapter will come out on Sunday and it will be continuing with the story. Enjoy!

Apartment Scene, Aryssi's POV

I followed Bird and the others as we chased after the girl's voice. We arrived at a large apartment building covered with disgusting, oozing black Blekksprut magic and the building was on fire.

"Please help us!" a girl begged, "my mum and my aunt are trapped in there with my cousin. The only way out has been blocked!"

"I've got this," I said, running off. I need to do this, this is exactly what I need to distract myself with.

"Aryssi!" I could hear my mum yelling at me, but I ignored her. I can do this, and I need to do it alone.

I smashed a window with my katana and cursed when a large piece of glass fell on my face. Hot, sticky blood instantly began dripping. I wiped it away and ran into the front foyer of the building. Not that there really was much of one now, anyway. There were potted plants toppled and the walls were starting to melt due to Blekksprut magic. I had to hurry.

I saw the stairs and right beside that was an elevator. I knew I had to take the stairs, even though the elevator would be faster it would not be safe. This way I can also hear anyone calling for help. I ran up the stairs as fast as I could, calling out for the trapped people. I was on the eighth floor when someone finally shouted back.

"Hello? Is someone there? Help us!" I ran in the direction of their voices.

"I'm here to help. Where are you?" I called out.

"Here!" That was helpful, why give me a room number when I can take longer to check every room for people? It's not like the whole building is about to fall down on us.

Luckily for me, someone opened the door. If they can open the door, why can't they get out?

"My daughter is trapped under a bookshelf. We can't get her out." I ran into the room. There was a girl not much older than me crying out in pain and lying on the floor. Her right leg was trapped under a massive bookshelf and another woman was pushing with all her might to move it. This was only causing her further pain.

"We need to lift it. I need both of you to help me push upwards, then I'll hold it steady while you," I said, pointing at the woman who met me at the door, "drag her out of the way. Then we'll drop the bookshelf and get out of here. Capisce?" Both women nodded and went to either side of the bookshelf. I braced myself, ready to push. "On my mark. Three, two, one, push!" Together we lifted the bookshelf high enough that it almost stood by itself. "Go!" I shouted at the red-haired woman who greeted me at the door, didn't she say she was the trapped girl's mother? Anyway, the red-haired woman dragged her daughter out of the way, and the other woman and I dropped the shelf to the floor. "Can you walk?" I asked the girl. She shrugged. "I need a better answer than that. Try to walk, if you can't, I'll carry you."

"There's no way you can carry me! You're just a kid!" I was starting to regret helping this useless family.

"Please hurry, the building could come down at any time." The girl tried to stand, but was in too much pain and fell down. "Right," I muttered, scooping her up. This girl was lighter than Bird! I laughed internally at everyone's surprised expressions at me being able to lift her and walked out the door and towards the stairwell.

"I'm Val." The girl I was carrying said. "My mum is Elice, she's the one with the red hair. And my aunt is Kristina. Is Annie okay?"

"Yes, Annie is okay. I'm assuming she's the girl who came running to us for help?"

"That would be her. I'm so glad she's safe," Val sighed, before continuing. "I wish we were all safe, but you'll ensure that, right?" Does this girl ever shut up?

"Right," I muttered. But we'll only be safe if I can get you out of here without being crushed, burned, touched by Blekkspurt acid, falling down the stairs, falling off the apartment-

"You're really strong. I work out every day, I'm going to be a soccer player for the women's team when I'm old enough."

"I bet you will be a great soccer player," I muttered, this girl was starting to get on my nerves.

The stairwell was starting to fill with smoke. I do not want to use dad's fire power. I don't even want it. "Is there another staircase?" I asked.

"Yes," Kristina said, "but it's on the other side of the building. We may not have time to get there before the building falls down on us."

"I guess we'll have to face the smoke," I said, and I got a worried expression from Val. I ignored it. We sped up the pace, making it all the way to the ground floor. The whole foyer was filled with smoke and we could barely see anything. The smoke was very hot and I was worried someone would get burned if we went through there.

"There needs to be another way out," I said. Everyone stared at me, and Elice shook her head. "Then I guess we'll just have to make a way out," Val's worried expression turned into pure terror, as she saw what I was about to do. I set her down carefully and stepped up to the window, smashing it. Using my katana, I cleared away the big shrubs and picked Val up again. "Let's go," I said.

We could see the finish line. I could see Bird's outline. We only had about a hundred meters to go. "Run, we're almost there! The sooner we get there, the sooner we'll be safe." We didn't have the chance to pick up the pace when a massive chunk of concrete cracked and started falling off the building. "Move!" I yelled, pushing Elice out of the way, dropping Val in the process. The slab of building landed where Elice had been standing less than a second ago. "We'll have to go around it," I said, "it's not that big."

There was suddenly a big bang, and dust went everywhere. The building began to tip towards us. Val and Elice were screaming. I heard mum calling my name. Kristina just stood there and watched as gravity pulled the building towards us. Time seemed to slow down. I knew I had to save these people (and myself) and the only way I could do that was by using my fire power. I pulled Kristina closer to where Elice and Val were laying. I focused. The building was about to tip over the edge and as it did I created a shield. As the building screamed closer to us, I focused. My shield grew larger until it encompassed the entire group. I yelled under the pressure, I had never done anything this intense before. The building crashed down on top of us. It hit my shield very hard and I almost passed out. I was holding on by a thread.

"She's an elemental master," Val whispered.

Suddenly Kristina was standing by my side. "You can do it. Save all of us, see your friends again." I couldn't hold on any longer. I was about to drop my shied. Val inched closer to Elice and held onto her mother for her life. "You can hold on, Aryssi." How does she know my name? "Your father may have been upset about losing his power, but he will be even more upset if he loses you. He'll never forgive himself if you die because he hurt you, causing you to do a reckless thing. You are strong, Aryssi Smith. I believe in you." I was going to see my father again. I yelled in agony as I pushed harder. I continued to expand my shield, causing massive boulders of the building to shift. With one final burst, the boulders turned red-hot and exploded outwards. My shield instantly disappeared.

"You did it, Aryssi," Kristina whispered.
