winter got out of the dress she wore in the chariot and got dressed into into a similar attire, which was a slightly shorter dress, with silver thread embroidered into the bodice. she was still wearing the same flats, because no one saw them under the longer dress she had on beforehand.

winter watched as districts one, two and three got called onto the stage, caeser asking them questions and the tributes placing fake persona's on their faces to gain sponsors.

"and now, ladies and gentlemen of the capitol, we welcome our youngest tribute of the night, district four's, winter farheart!" caeser said as the crowd roared with glee. winter took a deep breath and made her way on stage. "hello!"

winter grinned fakely and waved to the capital audience before caeser led her to a chair. "hello, caeser." she said sweetly, she hated it but it had to be done.

"so, we're going to get straight into the questions. so winter, how did you feel when your name was called out? surely, you must've been terrifed!"

"yes, i was. my mother and father were in hysterics, i-i told them i would try survive for them." winter replied innocently which made the capitol audience 'aw'. "but i knew i had to but on a brave face when they called me up, i had to be strong."

"amazing, so young yet so understanding!" caeser let an excited squeal as he leaned closer to the young tribute. "what do you think of the other tributes?"

winter sighed softly. "i-i look at them and they look so much bigger and stronger. they look like they could kill me in the first few seconds of the games but i'm going to try win, i don't want to kill anyone, it's not in my blood to feel the need to end a life and if i'm ever in a situation where i have to kill someone, i want to do it gently." this was sincere, though the other tributes wanted to kill her brutally, winter wanted to put them down 'gently', where they wouldn't feel that much pain.

"wow. . ." the blue haired man gaped. "what innocence you have, i would love to continue talking to you but now, this interview is over. winter farheart, district four female tribute, everybody!"

winter smiled at the crowd and waved as she walked off stage, her smile falling as soon as she walked off, her eyes meeting craig's and minty's.

"you did great, that's gonna get you sponsors, winter." craig said as he patted her shoulder. his kind sea green eyes as he wrapped the arm around her shoulder. though the two have only known each other for a short amount of time, he had become a father figure of sorts to the girl.

"it hard to act so innocent. hard to not just curse out the capitol for putting me in the games in the first place. it's sickening that they're calling the act of forcing children and teenagers to kill themselves games." winter spat as she felt craig squeeze her shoulder.

"i know, it's messed it but we can't, we can't do anything." craig sighed. winter was about to object when she realized he was right. any type of uprising would be immediately shut down by snow, he would kill every single person who even thought about an uprising and talked about it. the peacekeepers would get to you before you could even begin.

caeser's voice cut through once again, calling mason's name out. the blond haired boy's hair was now free from the slick and now fluffed up, his dark blue suit had been replaced with something similar.

"hello, mason, how are you on this evening?" caeser asked, a wide happy smile on his face as he faced mason.

"great, i'm good." mason replied with a wide smile.

"so, let's talk, you and winter know each other from your district, yes?" mason nodded. "so how did you feel when you heard her name called out?"

"i was horrified, she's so young, back in four, she was the kindest little thing ever. she'd always help people, if someone had fallen over in school she'd always help them up instead of laugh like everyone else, she's an angel." mason said, his deep caring for the girl coming out.

"and do you plan on protecting her in the games?"

"yes even if that means me dying, i'm going to protect her. she's my district partner, i'm not gonna betray her in anyway. she deserves to win." mason said as he kept his eyes on caeser's, the intensity of the bright blue made caeser uneasy.

"i can see, so you're willing to sacrifice yourself for her?"

"most definitely." that's when winter froze completely, she didn't want him to die for protecting her, hell she knew she couldn't fight but she was a fast learner and if she was determined, she'd learn faster.

"well ladies and gentleman that is all the time we have for mason dawnbloom, district four male tribute." mason shook caesers hand as he made his way off stage.

"you did great, mason." minty praised as mason looked at winter who only glared. she didn't want him sacrificing himself for her, she really didn't want him to do that. mason creased his brows but he knew, he understood why winter was glaring but he didn't care. he wanted to protect her, no matter what the cost was. he wanted her to survive. "now, let's head back to our room so you two can rest for your training tomorrow." minty ushered the two young tributes towards the door as craig followed closely after.

winter slipped off her shoes and stretched her arms out. she went straight into her room and no one stopped her. everyone knew she needed rest. hell, everyone needed rest if they were going to train for the hunger games but then everyone knew as well how hard it was to sleep knowing they were training to be sent into an arena to kill each other.

winter slipped on some night clothes and settled into bed, she stared out the open doors of her balcony, staring at the bright lights of the capitol and then thinking back to district four, back to her family. she hoped they were safe, that they were keeping strong. all she could do at this point was hope and that was what she was going to do.
