Only This Time

In Roman's opinion, the expression of "Forgive and forget" was a bunch of shit. Yes, forgiveness in any type of relationship, romantic or not, is important, but forgetting a wrong action is just as wrong. Some actions, if so severe, should not be forgotten, if even forgiven. And a secondary mistake of the same thing was out of the question of with forgiveness. In Roman's opinion, saying that being straight was 'normal' was a terrible thing to say.

Roman grew up in a supportive household. Of course he had baggage, but he could never understand what it is like to be told that loving another man when you yourself are a man is a crime against humanity by your own father. He's heard it from peers, coworkers, and from assholes on the streets, but never ever by a family member.

Logan, on the other hand, he grew up in a Catholic household with parents who wished that he'd turn out just like them; "normal" with a job in a small town, a wife of almost their choosing, and children he could support. That didn't happen. They were unhappy with just him moving to the city, but they supported him as a high school teacher since that was pretty normal, but they didn't even know about Roman or Logan's sexuality.

With a childhood like Logan's, going to a private Catholic school and attending church ever single Sunday, of course it was pounded into his brain that it wasn't "normal" to be gay, or bi, or trans, or anything else rather than straight and cis. He was so respectful and accepting to those who weren't, but still, he didn't find it normal. He didn't find himself normal, and Roman knew it, but it still pissed him off whenever he voiced it. There wasn't any such thing as normal! It's just some stupid society bull shit and Logan should be smart enough to know that! But he didn't!

Roman groaned, burying his face into his pillow. All he wanted was to see his boyfriend at work. God he was so sexy as a teacher, he couldn't help himself. The way he'd read off a book or a PowerPoint, how he'd explain and correct, how he was just a walking, talking computer who seemed to just know everything with such an amazing body and voice. Ugh! Too much!

But of course, Roman rarely got to see that side of him because he was always kicked out of the school by his grumpy and reserved lover who didn't want to be seen with another man. Roman was lucky they got to hold hands in public! It took a lot of coaxing and bribing to do that, and it took even more to get him to kiss him in the car (outside of the school parking lot of course). He was such a difficult boyfriend! Why was he like this!

There was a knock on the door. "Roman?" Speak of the Devil and he shall appear. Roman didn't reply. "Roman, I'm coming in."

He kept his face hidden in the pillow as he heard the door open closely followed by a sigh.

"Roman, what are you doing?" Logan asked, sitting down on the edge of their bed making the mattress shift down.

"I'm moping," he replied, his voice muffled by the cloth. "Go away."

"You're going to get silva all over our pillows." Again, no response. "If you come out, we can watch some Disney with some tea."

"I came out a long time ago, why would I do it again?"

Another sigh. "You are unbearable sometimes."

"Then why don't you just dump me and go find yourself a not as pretty wife. I bet you'd let her kiss you without slapping her."

Silence, and Roman felt Logan shift awkwardly. "Are you angry with me?" he finally asked.

Roman peered up from the pillow. His eyes had to adjust a bit before he could see Logan clearly. Logan wasn't looking down at him, but instead staring intently at their dresser beside the door with his hands folding firmly on his lap. "No... just disappointed and sad."

"I am sorry for hitting you," Logan apologized. "And I'm sorry for raising my voice. Thank you for bringing me coffee too. But-"

Roman rolled his eyes. "There's always a 'but'."

"Are you going to allow me finish?"

Roman humphed, but nodded anyway.

"But if you're going to visit me at work... please give me fair warning before you do so. Just so I can... prepare myself."

Princey finally rolled over on his back and propped himself up. "Really? You'd let me come and visit you?"

Logan shifted again. "You can't make it an everyday thing, but maybe once a month, I wouldn't really mind... and no kisses either."

Roman grinned. "Of course!"

A small smile appeared on Logan's lips and he finally looked down at him. "Am I forgiven now?"

He nodded. "Yes, but only this time."
