Erik watched Felix nervously as he served the customers. Seb had long given up on getting his attention back and instead sipped his coffee in silence. Felix was not speaking as he poured drinks.
Eventually, after what Erik thought was longer than it should have taken, the new people departed from the desk to find a table. Felix watched them walk away, and then hurried back towards Erik and Seb's table. The latter man straightened his back, relieved to be included once more.
"What was that?" Erik asked as his lover sat down again, clenching his hands in his lap. Erik reached over to place one of his own on top of them.
"It's not important."
"It obviously is to you," Seb countered. Felix looked away.
"He was a bit of a dick to me once. It was years ago. I got over it."
"This is you getting over something?" Seb questioned, and Erik gave Felix's hands a squeeze. The smaller man pulled his hands away.
"Hey, Seb," Felix stated, making the other man jump slightly. "Do you need the toilet?"
"No, why?"
"I think you should go."
"But I don't-"
"I think you should go."
Seb let out a little sound of appreciation, realising what Felix was trying to do. He rose to his feet.
"I'll give you two a minute."
Slowly, the man walked away towards the restroom, casting a single glance back over his shoulder at the pair. Erik turned towards Felix, who was looking down into his lap.
"So?"
"He broke up with me when I lost my leg. I never really got over how much of a dick move that was."
"Oh," Erik replied, dropping his eyes. He felt stupid for his simple response, but it was all he could manage to mutter. "Sorry."
Felix was watching the man from over Erik's shoulder and suddenly ducked behind him.
"He looked over."
Erik could help letting out a small chuckle at the child-like action. The brown-haired man looked up at him, and angry experience adorning his face, but it just made Erik laugh even more.
"You're cute." The words slipped out before Erik realised, and he immediately turned a bring a shade of red. Felix paused in his anger, looking at the man. His expression became something complicated. Eventually, he smiled.
"You're cute too." Erik laughed, still blushing intently, and Felix reached forward to hold his hands. He looked over Erik's shoulder again, watching the man. Erik let out another chuckle.
"I never imagined you'd be like this," Erik commented, glancing down at their still interlocked hands.
"Like what?"
"I dunno. Like… self-conscious."
"I'm not being self-conscious," Felix insisted, glancing across at the man again to see if he were watching them. Erik laughed.
Suddenly Felix flinched, and Erik looked at him to see the man had stood, the woman with him draping off his arm, and was walking towards them. The brown-haired man shifted his hands, gripping Erik's tightly, as he approached. Erik bit his lip to hold back the smile.
They walked past the table Erik and Felix were sat at, and the latter man let out an audible breath. The pair were walking towards the exit.
But, just as Felix though he were safe, the man turned over his shoulder to look at this again. Erik felt him flinch and waited with bated breath as he walked back towards them, the woman remaining where she was.
