Tyler and Diane sit in silence as Kate recounts how Catherine and her family had learned of Tom's death, but Zoe looks at her grandmother with puzzlement in her eyes.  "Grandma, what's a telegram?"

Kate hesitates for moment, unsure how to explain it.  "Well, it's sort of like a letter.  It's one of the ways people knew what was going on during the war.  The people at war could send out messages by what are called telegraphs, and those telegraphs were connected to telegraphs everywhere.  So you could send a message wherever you wanted and it would come printed on the other side.  And then telegraph boys would go around delivering the messages."

"Oh, okay." Nods Zoe in understandement.  Kate opens her mouth to resume her story, but is interupted by the door opening and a warm voice calling "I'm home, dear!!"

"Grandpa!!!!" Exclaims Zoe as she leaps from her chair and runs to greet her grandfather.

After everyone has had a chance to greet the newcomer, they all sit down in the living room for the rest of the story.

"So which story are you telling tonight, dear?" The elderly man asks his wife.

"I'm telling the kids about Catherine and Peter." She explains with a smile.

"Aaahhh, are you now?  Where are you up to?" He smiles back.

"They've just gotten a telegram from the war." Kate says before resuming.
