"Shukaku needs blood, doesn't he?" I asked Gaara. He looked at me with bloodlust in his eyes and nodded.
I did a bunch of hand signs and bit my thumb.
"What are you doing?" he said hungrily.
"Just hold on." I said once the blood hit the ground I said, "Expansion ketsueki jutsu! (Blood expansion jutsu)"
The blood continuously multiplied until it was big enough to be a person. I did a couple more hand signs and said,
"Bodi no kin-gata jutsu! (Body mould jutsu)" the bloody blob began to mould itself into a ninja form, I made it look like Kankuro.
"This way Shukaku gets his craving, and you get to take your anger out on Kankuro." I said.
Gaara looked over at me as if asking permission.
"Go ahead." I said.
At that moment Gaara released his sand and it crushed the blood form, all of the blood seeping into the sand.
"Better?" I asked he looked at me oddly.
"Shukaku says that you have good blood." He said.
"Umm thanks?" I asked unsurely.
Before giving me another chance to speak he vanished.
"Aw you're the best Honoka." I said pretending to be Gaara.
"oh it was no big deal Gaara." I said as if what I had just said was from him.
"Sheesh, your think he would at least say 'goodbye'!" I said as walking off to a bed room to sleep.
*The next day*
I awoke groggily and turned to my side. 'At least I'm not waking up to someone staring at me this time. I heard the room door open behind me and then I heard Temari say, "I see you're finally awake!" she said.
I looked over at her surprised, "Why how late is it?"
"12o'clock." She said simply.
"12!!! Why didn't anybody wake me up?!?" I asked.
I didn't mind sleeping in, infact I loved it; I just wanted to stay on a ninja schedule.
"I was going to, but Gaara didn't let me."
I looked at her as she said this eye brows raised a hint of a blush spreading across my cheeks. I turned towards the window for a second until the blush vanished, Temari didn't seem to notice it.
"The only reason I just got in was because he said that you were awake."
"How did he know I was awake?" I asked her.
"I don't know..." she said zoning out.
For the rest of that day I hung out with Temari, and we talked about things, nothing really in particular until it was around 4pm.
"Do you have a crush on my little brother?" she asked.
I gasped, "No!"
'I had never had a crush; I wouldn't even know what it felt like.' I thought to myself as another blush spread across my cheeks. I pulled Temari into an empty room nearby,
"This has been happening a lot lately!" I said pointing at my cheeks while talking to Temari.
"Well is there something in common with the times you blush?" she asked.
"Hmm." I thought to myself about the situations, "Well each time Gaara is mentioned..."
I saw Tamari's face lighten up as she gasped, "ohmigosh! You like Gaara!" she exclaimed as I looked at her like she was wearing Kankuro's face paint.
"Nope, I can't have a crush on my best friend." I asked her confused.
Ignoring my last remark she continued talking to herself, "You guys will make such a cute couple!"
I looked at her strangely again.
"You're crazy!" I said while walking towards the door, but before leaving I said, "And if you spread some sort of rumor about this, sister by soul or not, I'll kick your ass so hard there won't be an ass left." She gulped as I walked out of the room.
It was a few hours later and I was sitting on the roof... again. I was looking up at the stars, naming the conciliations in my head, but subconsciously out loud at the same time.
"Orion, Gemini, Ursa major..."
"Hey." I heard Gaara say from behind me.
I looked over at him surprised, "You came up here without me asking you to?"
"I was looking for you..." he said simply in his Gaara way.
"And how did you ever guess that I was up here?" I asked sarcastically.
He walked over to beside where I was sitting.
"You know Temari told me what you did today, while I was sleeping." I said looking outwards towards the forest blushing once more.
"Yea." He said.
"Why would you do that?" I asked as he sat down and I looked back up to the sky.
"I did it because you where obviously tired if you were still sleeping." He said still emotionless.
"I guess...Thanks." I said to him as I looked at him.
He was sitting with one of his legs hanging off of the side of the roof.
"Somebody might see your leg, and then you will get the both of us in trouble." I said in a sigh.
"If they do try to get us in trouble I'll just kill them." He said.
"Shit, Gaara are you still in bloodlust?" I asked him worriedly.
"No, ever since you helped me I've been fine." He said.
"Oh, well what if it is the proctor who sees your leg. What will you do then?" I asked him teasingly.
I looked over at him and once again he didn't answer. I only just realized that I was still blushing. I put my hand to my cheek, 'Is Temari right?' I asked myself in my head, 'Do I like Gaara?' I looked back to Gaara and he was looking to the stars. 'There is only one way to find out.' I thought to myself as I nervously closed my eyes and reached my hand out to meet his.
He looked down immediately and asked,
"What are you doing?" I blushed into a shade of red from my shade of pink.
"N-nothing j-j-just holding your hand." I said. 'Damn! Why am I stuttering?!?' I thought to myself.
"Hmm." He sighed as he looked up at the moon.
"You shouldn't get so close to a killing machine." He said in a leveled voice.
I looked over at him then my eyes trailed to his love tattoo.
"I think that you have feelings, and anybody who says otherwise is stupid. You are a person too! Shukaku is the ass who makes you kill and I know it." I said trying to be comforting.
I knew that no matter how well Gaara masked it, he was hurt when talking about what happens when people get close to him.
I gave him a smile and put my head on his shoulder, he didn't use his sand to push me away but I could feel him tensing and finding my emotion awkward.
"Don't worry Gaara. You'll always have a friend in me." I said as I fell into asleep, my head still on his shoulder.
