The room seemed to go silent before I heard Kankuro start talking to Naruto.
"I don't know what kind of moves that guy with the dumb haircut has got. But he'll never take Gaara down, not in this life time." I looked towards Kankuro, 'Does he even recognize Gaara as his little brother?' I asked myself. I looked over at Temari, she might be afraid of Gaara to, but she was always proud. I watched as she looked down at her brother, hands at her hips, smirking. She was obviously in deep thought when Naruto simply said, "Wrong." "What?" Kankuro asked. "Lee's stronger than you think. You have no idea."By accident after hearing this I turned on my sharingan and noticed that something was missing, subconsciously I said, "He only uses Taijutsu." "You recognized it already?" Neji said. I nodded."Why are you in such a hurry?" Lee asked speaking choppily as always, holding the cork that had just forced itself out of Gaara's gourd. Everybody seemed to be starring at the arena. I walked forwards and leaned on the railing. "Be safe Gaara..." I said quietly to myself. 'It's not that I don't think he can't do it, but this kid... something about him, his energy seems strong...' I thought to myself as I heard Gai say, "So what's Gaara's deal?" as he stood next to me. I looked at him my emotions quickly changing to anger, "And why would I tell you?" I asked.
"Well..." Gai began. "That was a hypothetical question." I said sternly. The proctor began to raise his hand, "Alright then, if you are both ready. Begin!" The proctor said.
Gaara stood there with his arms crossed over his chest as Lee ran at him.
He jumped into the air, "Lee Hurricane!" he exclaimed as he kicked his leg at Gaara's face. "He can't be serious." I said with an unimpressed eyebrow raised. The sand blocked his kick without effort. Gaara just stood there unmoving. The sand rose up to protect Gaara and tried to crash down on Lee, he gasped and jump-somersaulted out of the sand's path. As Lee landed on the ground skidding across the floor due to his speed Gaara's sand was retracting back into his gourd. "What is that?" Ino asked. "It's sand." Sakura said to herself. "That's an unusual jutsu..." Kakashi said. I smiled slyly at the Jounin; even though he wasn't looking I knew that he would sense it.
"That's..." I heard Shino say, almost in fear and wonder at the same time. He was obviously thinking of that time in the forest of death. "That nightmare, not again!" he said it so quietly that I could barely hear it, even with the Bakeneko's hearing.
I could tell that everybody thought it was a jutsu. Bakeneko's sadness over the situation was leaking through the connection we had, 'If only they knew, right?' I thought to her. The sand hastily exited the gourd again, as Lee began to charge at my best friend once again. Lee did multiple kicks and jumps at him the sand blocked it easily, but when the sand tried to attack Lee, he pulled out a Kunai and jabbed at the sand. "Gaara isn't even fighting." I whispered lowly.Lee began attacking and avoiding the sand again, and he jumped into the air, throwing Kunai at the back of Gaara's head. Gaara stopped the Kunai with his sand before it reached his head, Gaara hadn't even flinched the whole fight, his arms where even still wrapped around his chest. "The sand! He's using it as a shield!" Naruto exclaimed. "He's not doing it; the sand is protecting him of its own accord." Naruto 'huh'd in question at Kankuro. "It's almost like a living thing." Kankuro said."It will come to Gaara's defense without him doing anything. That's why Gaara's never been scarred." "The only person to ever be able to touch him is Honoka over here..." Kankuro said looking over at me, causing Naruto to so the same thing. I rolled my eyes heavily at this remark. I mean it was true, but that doesn't mean I'm going to be sweet about it.Lee grunted in frustration and exhaustion as he stood in his fighting pose once more. "Well is that all?" Gaara asked him. "Oh, shit." I accidently said out loud as if it was nothing, but I really was worried as Gaara continued to speak. "I hope you haven't finished entertaining me." His voice began to change now symbolizing that he was now going to talk along with Shukaku, "We haven't had enough blood." He said looking up for the first time. The sand rushed towards Lee in a frantic scurry. Lee tried to jump into the air again, but the sand caught his ankle, and it began throwing him around the arena. When Lee got up, he charged Gaara once more, getting his fist ready. 'Does this guy not learn?' I asked myself. –yeah, he's just tiring himself out- Bakeneko said. Gaara's sand came up again to stop the attack. At this point Sakura asked Gai why Lee wouldn't use Ninjutsu to attack Gaara instead of Taijutsu, realizing that Taijutsu was never going to work. Gai explained Lee's past to Sakura and how he couldn't use Taijutsu or Ninjutsu because he didn't have any skills in those areas. The fight continued and Lee eventually slipped on some sand, causing him to fall. The sand then formed into a hand that smushed Lee, or so everyone thought. Instead Lee jumped into the air, landing on the finger of the statue at the front of the room. Gaara just starred at the boy, still unmoving. That's when Gai gave Lee a thumbs up and told him to remove two extremely heavy weights, even by my standards. "Totally cool!" Naruto exclaimed. "Totally dumb." Kankuro said. I looked in awe, as well as most of the other people in the room. I looked over at Gaara to see him not being intimidated in the least. Lee began to move so quickly that you could barely see him. Gaara began to look surprised, actually! I was amazed as Lee punched through the sand.Lee continued to kick and punch at Gaara the sand barely stopping him. Lee even ended up almost hitting Gaara in the back. I leaned forwards on the railing, I didn't admit it to anybody, not even myself, but the fact was every time Gaara got close to being hit I got more and more worried.Gaara continued to look around trying to catch sight of the boy, but it was no use. Lee continued to attack the barrier of sand trying to get at Gaara. Kankuro stared amazed, and mouth agape. Lee jumped up and kicked Gaara on the head causing his head to snap forwards. I whimpered as I leaned further forwards on the railing. Gaara had a cut on the right side of his face and was grunting while he stood up again. "Wow that's scary! And I thought he was quick on his feet before!" Naruto exclaimed. I looked back towards my red headed friend."YES LEE!" Gai screamed out to his Genin student as his tooth twinkled, "LET THE POWER OF YOUTH EXPLOODDDEE!" he screamed again. "Right!" Lee said as he began running straight at Gaara.
"Don't worry about my ear." I mumbled under my breath as he yelled. In reply to Lee's attacks, Gaara moved backwards slightly as he swung his arm around, now controlling the sand himself. I felt a quick pitter patter of my heart as my stomach got that floppy feeling. 'I don't get it? Am I worried?' I asked Bakeneko. –No child, you like Gaara- she replied. I sighed in annoyance 'I don't like Gaara like that!!!!' I yelled in my mind. Lee disappeared behind Gaara and punched at the sand, as this happened Gaara turned around to look at the leaf ninja, only to see that he had already disappeared again. "Over here!" Lee said as attacking at his other side, and Gaara turned. "No, over here!" Lee said as he attacked the other side of Gaara once more. This was pissing me off, 'just get it on and over with!' I yelled in my mind. Lee then punched Gaara in the face with enough force to knock him over. I felt a tinge in my heart at the fact that Gaara was getting hurt, but I knew if anybody ever interrupted my match for my safety I would tear them apart, and all I could do was show Gaara the same respect.
