An End

I woke up to my alarm blaring loudly. I got up from the bed with a stiff neck. I quickly turned it off and went up to my mirror to examine myself. There was a small red blotch on the right side of my neck, near my shoulder blade. It looked exactly like a hickey. Certainly that wasn't why my neck hurt. Great start off to the day for sure. I was out of the shower within ten minutes and then I got dressed for school. I went downstairs to grab a small breakfast. I found a bagel and decided to toast it while waiting on Jeremy. He was down just as my bagel popped out of the toaster.

"Hey, bagel?" I asked him while spreading cream cheese on it.

"No thanks. Not hungry." He swung his bag across his shoulder and gestures to the door.

I got the hint and grabbed my bag as well before heading out the door with him.

I threw my stuff in my locker before heading off to lunch. Right as I swung my locker door closed, Xavier's face appeared.

"Hey." I laughed and gave him a quick peck on the lips.

"Hi." He accepted my kiss warmly and leaned against the lockers. "How was the whole college thing?"

"What?" I completely forgot that I lied to him to sneak off with some shady dude. "Uhm it was as expected. Boring as hell. Glad I got it out of the way though, won't bother me as much anymore." That part was true. No more unanswered questions and forgetful nights. I finally had a starting base. Next, I just need to find out what he wants. I'm was being way more lenient than I should be.

"Right." Xavier put his arm around my shoulder and walked down the hallway with me. "WingStop?"

"Ugh I'm somewhat full today actually. I ate a bagel earlier, it was pretty heavy."

"Damn.. then another time. You coming to my basketball game later?"

Fuck. I slapped myself mentally for not remembering. "Of course." I tried my best to act like I was planning on it.

"Bye babe." He kissed my head before letting me go at the entrance of the cafeteria.

Get your shit together Elena. You're falling apart all over again. Not good. I quickly find Bonnie sitting at our table and take a seat.

"Hey Bon." I smiled at her while taking out my packed lunch. I had an apple and some chips. I was full to the brim.

"Hey.." She sounded exhausted.

"What's wrong?" I asked her while taking a bite of my apple.

"Parents. Of course. Fretting about stupid stuff. I'm mentally preparing myself for a divorce and I mean it." She shook her head and began scrolling through her phone.

I frown instantly and reach out for her hand. "Hey.. if you ever just need to let it out, please talk to me okay? Keeping stuff bottled up inside is never healthy. I'm here for you. Always." I meant it. Maybe I should take my own advice. I just don't have enough information on the issue to talk about it. There is not enough material to keep a conversation going. Which, all in all, is exhausting. The whole concept wears me down.

"I'll hold you to that." I saw a slight smile on her face.

"Caroline not around?" I asked.

"She's off with.. I genuinely forget his name."

"Ross. Repeat after me Bonnie.. ROSS." Bonnie's humor was to die for.

"Who gives a shit." She waved her hand, dismissing the guy.
