Change is inevitable. Not disagreeing on that. What I grew to understand later on was that teenagers suck. We go through a whole whirlwind of emotions: switching friends, switching lovers, switching who's good and bad. The worst part about this is that we're not alone. Teenagers go through teenage things with other teenagers, which probably makes it a lot harder to deal during our teenage years.
Since coming to Middleton High on Freshman year, everyone was just beginning so go through puberty and as Sophomore came around the corner, that's when it strikes; that's when the hate, love, drama and chaos begins. Like all the students opened Pandora's box.
As I walk along the hallway, I see people hanging out with different people than they did the year before. My old group of friends have separated ways, but one of them still decides to stay... With me... And I don't exactly know why he did.
The group of old friends stand around the locker, glancing at me as I walk past. "Isn't that Carrie? Holy shit, she's like... Goth, right? Damn, she changed."
Yes, because wearing all black is considered goth or emo. I try not to let it get to me, but my fingers starts to grip tightly on my bag strap.
"She's going through some family problems, but like... It's funny because I think she's over-exaggerating. I went to her house once and her family seemed fine." Clarissa tries to whisper, but I can hear her clearly.
"Totally a drama queen. I knew it."
Alright.
That's it.
My blood boils as I clench my jaw. Clarissa was my most trustworthy friend, but maybe even the most innocent ones aren't as they seem.
Before I turn back to retort, Terence walks over to me with a calming look on his face. Just seeing him smile slyly at me, cools me down like magic. "Hey." He greets.
I relax my shoulders as I greet him back, turning away from him and walking towards my class.
"You've... Changed..." He says, walking beside me.
I laugh lightly at the statement. "So, I've heard."
"Well, it's not a bad change," he shrugs and I look at him with an eyebrow raised. "I like the outfit, so it must be good."
"Yeah, 'cause one person likes it means it has to be good." I roll my eyes as he laughs.
"See you at lunch!"
Walking into my first class almost felt cold as I'm looking at the group of desks my friends and I used to sit in. Now, I'm sitting there alone and feeling a little empty inside.

I'm in my art class sitting down on my desk waiting for the teacher to come in. One of my old friends, Tessie, comes up to me.
"What happened?" She asks
"Can't believe that you're worried." I reply, rolling my eyes.
"I'm not, I'm disappointed."
"Really? You deserve it!"
"No, I'm serious. I hate seeing you like this."
"Then don't look at me. It's not like you'll accept me for who I am. Nobody does."
"Terence does!"
"You didn't say 'Terence and I do!' Now go away."
"I'm not going until you'll tell me what happened."
"YOU HAPPENED!" I yell. Everyone's head shoots up. I lower my voice. "Tell the teacher I went to the bathroom."
I walk out of the room crying. I'm going to the bathroom just in case she looks for me there, so I decide to go to my usual spot: the empty room behind the library.
Once I reach the room, I walk to the corner sobbing. Then I hear talking outside and I don't know what to do, it's not like there is anything to hide with in the room. The door starts shaking, then I hear Terence's voice. The talking stops and suddenly there's a knock on the door.
"Carrie, I know you're in there," I hear Terence say. "I saw you come in here."
I stands up and open the door.
"Tell me what happened?" He asks. I started crying again because I remember what happened.
"I. . . Can't. . . " I say, now putting my head on his shoulder
"It's alright. Let's get you back in class." Terence says, as we're walking back.
