"Mom was a fire fairy? Does that mean I could have some magic in my blood?" Ash asked.
"It could. I'm not sure." Edward replied.
"Excuse me, father. I'll be right back." Ash said.
Ash got up from the bed and went to speak with Quinn. She found him waiting patiently just outside the door.
"Quinn, what happened after I was brought to the hospital?" Ash asked softly.
"...After you were brought to the infirmary you fell asleep for almost a day. When you woke you told me you were in pain, so I left to get the medic. We were coming back when we heard your scream of pain from down the hall. When we got to the room you were still screaming in pain, and tears were streaming down your face. I picked you up and cradled you in my arms. You were lifted into the air and you wounds started to fade and you hospital gown changed into your armor, but as you can see, it now has hints of red and orange in it. After, you were set down on your feet, but you started to fall, and that's when I caught you, and then you woke up.
"I...healed myself?" Ash asked softly.
"Yeah. You did." Quinn said.
"I'll...be right back." Ash said.
Ash walked back to her room where her father was waiting.
"What did he say?" Edward asked.
"He said...I have magic in my blood...like mom." Ash said.
"We'll get through this together. Now let me finish my story." Edward said.
"OK," Ash said as she sat down.
"Your mother was brought to the infirmary to give birth to her two baby girls. One was you, and the other was your twin sister...Melonie." You were our pride and joy, but shortly after the two of you were born your mother became very sick." Edward said.
"I thought you said mom left," Ash said heartbroken, tears forming in her eyes.
"She did leave. She left...to the heavens. I was so upset. I didn't believe I could take care of both of you, so I sent your sister away to another family." Edward said.
"You, w-what. I have a twin, and you sent her away!" Ash said with tears streaming down her face.
"Little flame. I'm sorry. I couldn't take care of you both. One had to be sent away." Edward said.
"Where did you send her," Ash said sternly.
"I sent her to EmberMoon," Edward said ashamed.
"EmberMoon?" Ash said. "Dad, I have to go."
"Why?" Edward asked.
"I'll be back soon. You don't have to worry." Ash said glaring at her father.
"I understand," Edward said, disheartened his daughter was upset.
"Good night," Ash said as she turned towards the door of the room. She had big plans for the next day.
Ash walked back to her house to see it in ruins, then she remembered everything that had happened two nights ago. She then walked back to the infirmary to see if she could find Quinn.
She found Quinn asleep in the waiting room. She gently shook him awake and asked if she could stay with him for a while. Quinn's face suddenly became pink and he said yes. Quinn and Ash walked home in peaceful silence.
When they got back, Quinn showed Ash the guest bedroom, went to his room, and fell asleep.
The next morning Quinn went downstairs to make himself breakfast. He saw Ash already downstairs with breakfast made.
"Are you hungry?" Ash asked cheerfully.
"Yeah. What did you make?" Quinn replied.
"Eggs, bacon, waffles, and fresh squeezed orange juice," Ash said as she got a plate from the cupboard.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
"Are you expecting anyone?" Ash asked Quinn.
Quinn shook his head and continued eating, while Ash went to get the door. When she opened it she saw Sophia standing there.
"Hey, Sophia!" Ash said.
"Ash! You're ok! Thank god you're ok!" Sophia said with relief as she hugged Ash.
"Yeah, I was released from the infirmary last night. I came here with Quinn because I wasn't sure where else to go since I'm kind of mad at my father." Ash said.
"OK. Is that waffles I smell?" Sophia asked.
"Yep!" Ash said proudly. "Come on in!"
When they got to the kitchen Quinn was already helping himself to seconds.
"Hey! Save some for our guest!" Ash teased playfully.
"Oh! Sorry, Sophia. Her cooking is just so delicious!" Quinn exclaimed.
They all sat down at the table and finished breakfast together.
"I have an important announcement," Ash stated.
"What is it?" Quinn said.
"I'm going to EmberMoon today," Ash said.
"Ok." Sophia and Quinn said together.
"I'm going to EmberMoon, to see if I can find my long lost twin," Ash added on.
Sophia and Quinn both became quiet.
"You have a twin?" Sophia said softly.
"Yes, I do. And I'm really hoping she still lives in EmberMoon like my father said." Ash said. "I'll probably be back tomorrow morning."
"Well, I'm coming with you," Sophia said.
"Me too," Quinn added on.
"Alright. The more eyes to find her the better." Ash said happily.
Ash didn' want to seem childish and ask her friends to come with her, but she was grateful they offered to come.
"Let's pack and leave at 10:00 a.m, sharp. We'll meet at the village gate." Ash said.
Ash, Quinn, and Sophia all went to their separate rooms/houses to gather clothes for the night. They all grabbed some money for food and a hotel room and set out for the gate. They met at 10:00 sharp and set out along the path to EmberMoon.
