A few seconds after we leave the alley, the guards' trucks come roaring behind us.
"Hold on!" Adanya yells over the engine.
I grab part of the jeep and grip it with all of my strength.
Adanya turns sharply to the left and then to the right but no matter what she does she can't shake the guards.
"Maybe the gloves are useful," I say.
She seems to think about it for a few minutes before yelling, "Dylan, take the wheel."
Dylan's eyes widen but he reaches over and grabs the wheel. Adanya first leans out the window to see how many cars there are.
She turns and gives us one last look before she climbs up onto the roof.
I try to grab her to stop her from doing something drastic and reckless that could get us all killed but she is too quick.
I look out the wide window behind me and at first, all I see is the guards' vehicles.
Then I see her.
It seems as if everything is moving in slow motion and I have to do everything in my power to not look away from the fear of her getting injured.
She has her right arm pulled back, ready to punch and man, she looks as cool as a superhero jumping in to save the day.
Then her fist connects with the front of one of the vehicles and purple electricity erupts from the impact.
The car's back end flips up and it jumps right over her. It then rolls end over end on its side until it skids to a halt, blocking the other cars from getting through.
Adanya then leaps over the overturned car and runs to our stopped vehicle, jumping in.
"Go!" she yells and we tear off, leaving the guards behind us.
