(Nique POV)

“Where you go?” Zee asks, when I walk through the door.

 “Ray’s house.” I reply, as she puts her shoes on.

 “For what? That n-gga ain’t nothing but rude to you.” Zee says.

 “Chill, Z. Ray’s actually being nicer to me.” I said.

 Zee looked at me, then nodded. “A’ight. I’ll give him one more shot. If he screw it up, I’m fxcking him up. Got it?”

 I laughed. “Let’s go get Tyler, okay?” I said.

She smiles and followed me out the door. We walked two blocks over to Ty’s house. Some girl opened the door when I knocked.

 “Hi.” I smile.

 “Hey.” She smiles back.

 “I’m Zonnique and this is Zuicora. Is Tyler here?” I asked.

 “Yeah. Come in.” She says. We walk in. “TY, YOU GOT COMPANY!” She yells.

“HERE I COME!” Ty yells back.

 “I’m Chantelle, Ty’s auntie.” She says.

 Really? She looked like she was our age.

 “Are you? You look kinda young.” Zee says.

 Leave it to Zee to ask that question out loud.

Chantelle smiles. “I’m her mom’s little sister. Our mom had me a few months before Ty’s mom had her.”

Okayyy….sooo….how old is Ty’s grandmother? I know she not that old, ‘cause Ty’s mom is only, like, 28 or something. Whatever, it’s too early on a Saturday afternoon to be doing math. Ty walks in, slipping on her Nikes.

 “Hey. Y’all met my auntie?” She asks.

 We nod.

 “Are you going shopping with us, Chantelle?” I asked. I hoped so, the shirt she was wearing was really cute, and I was hoping she would help a sistah find a really cute dress. Our Formal Ball was coming up. The Formal Ball was basically a back to school dance.

“I am. Ty wants help finding a dress. And please, call me Cha.” Cha says.

 “That’s cool. I like that.” Zee nods.

 We all laughed.

 “You can call me Nique.” I said.

 “Call me Zee.” Zee says.

 Cha nods. “Okay. Got it.”

 We all head out the door. The mall was about a 10 minute walk.

“Are you going to Northridge?” Zee asks Cha, referring to our school.

 “Yep. Just transferred.” Cha says.

 “Me too.” Zee says. “We’ll be new together.”

 All of us giggled.

 “You guys are cool people. I think today’s gonna be fun.” Cha says.

 “I told you.” Ty giggles, hip-bumping her.

 “We’ll all be the best of friends.” I said, with a smile.

 “I’m down.” Zee says, smiling.

(Ray POV)

“Man, Dad. You cheating!” I laughed, as my dad one-hand dunked the ball.

 “How?” He asks, laughing too.
