Awake in a fantasy (draft)

(Chapter 7)

* Kai *

I faced Luna who was licking the water off my stomach and blew my front side bangs out of my eyes.

"Where do you want to go now?" I smiled with a glint in my eye. Raine scrunched her freckled nose and gaped at me as if I were insane. I giggled softly and skipped over to my light pink dress and changed my clothes behind a boulder. I could hear Raine getting her things and getting on Grey. A few moments later I came out and tied my wet hair into a low side ponytail.

"How about I go show you my den?" she announced. Her den? Oh right, she was the alpha of the pack. I nodded the tried to slap myself in the face. What were the jackals going to do to me? Were they as vicious as Grey? I gulped and followed Raine up the rocky hill. Grey ambled up the hill trying to match my pace. I felt embarrassed because there I was suffering while Grey easily strutted upwards. Not to mention Raine just relaxing. Near the top Grey leaped onto the surface, his muscles effortlessly flexing.

Just as I was about to hook my hand at the top, Luna freely did a somersault on my back and landed safely beside Grey. I slipped and down I went until my foot got stuck between two rocks. Smooth Kai, smooth. I could see Grey snicker, and Luna giggle, dumb dogs. I looked down to sight Ash. He just walking back into his house, loser.

Holy cow... When she said den, I think she meant cave. The mouth of the den invited us with it's teeth sticking outwards. Howls filled the air, I was petrified. What if a jackal bigger than Grey randomly attacked me and Raine couldn't stop it? Grey let out a rich blaring roar and all were silent. Grey must be the alpha, that makes sense. If Raine's the leader and she rides on Grey all the time, it would make sense that Grey's the alpha. Then Luna would be, a pup? Grey's pup? Possibly.

From the cave's mouth a pair of glowing, gleaming red dots appeared, then another pair and another, until the whole entrance was filled with red. The jackals snarled showing their yellow fangs.

"Get on Grey." Raine glared at me trying to hold her posture. This was unthinkable, get on Grey? The most fearsome beast out of the whole pack? I did as she told me to not realizing how loud my heart was pounding against my chest. His fur was bristly yet warm. In an instant the omega's were silent coming out into the day light. I knew I should have been fretful but it was too amazing, they were adorable. A light orange jackal walked over to Grey licking his coat, must be the wife. She twitched her ear looking at me. Was I that strange? Raine patted the wife’s head and entered the cave. It was damp and moist, I didn't want moist, it reminded me of water, and I kind of hated water right now.

We kept walking deep into the dark mysterious path. I wish I were a jackal right now so I could tell where I was going. I constantly bumped into Grey's side making sure I was with them. Finally we reached a fire. It illuminated our surroundings, but we passed it.

"So where are we going?" I asked, feeling the cave's drool soak into my flats. I clenched my toes together making sure my shoes wouldn't slip of. It was mucky, i hated mucky. All in one second Grey was gone. I paused desperately trying to feel around me, my eyes were useless here. Thump. Did they jump down from where I was standing? Without hesitation I crudely leaped down graceless. Thud. Smooth Kai, smoooooth. I got up and dusted the dirt off my dress.

"We're here," Raine's voice didn't seem the most enthusiastic. I pondered, we're here? Where? I caught a glimpse of a light by my feet. Grey's muzzle pushed open a flap witch blended into the cave walls, not like it mattered or anything. We all entered a dim lit room.

"What was the point of the fire if it's signaling to intruders that we're here?" i questioned, looking sophisticated.

"It's not a signal," Raine began.
