“Maniniwala ka ba kung sinabi kong si Vida pala yung balitang nililigawan daw ni Chronos.”
Napatigil si Vida sa pagsusulat sa notebook niya ng marinig ang malakas na bulungan ng dalawang estudyanteng nasa library din noong hapon na iyon. They were few seats apart from her but their gossiping didn’t escape her notice.
“Ah… kaya pala lagi silang magkasabay?”
“Si Chronos laging nakabuntot sa kanya.”
Gusto niyang tumayo at harapin ang mga ito.
Gusto niyang sabihin sa mga ito na hindi siya nililigawan ni Chronos.
Nilalandi lang siya nito. Yun nay un. Period.
Ni hindi pa nga niya naririnig mula sa mismong bibig ni Chronos na seryosong gusto siya nito. He showed so many things that made her think otherwise but at the end of the day they’d end up with no formal name as to what was going on. At the end of the day Vida couldn’t figure out what was really happening.
Her head would start thinking “Ano nga ba?” but would end up with “Pero teka… “. She’d stop fussing about it while reminding herself that it’s not as if she was waiting for Chronos to ask her formally if she wanted to be courted or anything!
Would “HURRY UP AND FALL FOR ME” qualify as a form of courtship? Vida looked up the word courtship on her mini-dictionary by her side. Courtship, a period in a couple's relationship which precedes a formal agreement of commitment.
Chronos was in no way heading towards a serious word like COMMITMENT.
Umiling si Vida at matigas na muli nitong itinuon ang tingin sa librong hawak.
“Oo… may nakakita pa nga dawn a nag-she-share sila ng payong sa ulan.”
Vida felt a vein pop on her head. Ah… so someone else saw them that afternoon… that embarrassing moment they’ve shared…
Buti na lang nakatalikod siya mula sa mga ito dahil biglang namula ang muhka niya ng maalala ang maling sinabi niya ditto. Saying that anyone would fall for him made it seem like she was declaring that she was falling for him in some sort of twisted manner.
Hindi makapaniwalang tinignan siya ni Chronos noong sinabi niya iyon. Mapangahas na tinakpan ni Chronos ang muhka niya at sinabi nitong natakot ito sa ngiti niya at sa pinagsasabi niya. Sa susunod daw na ngingiti siya sabihin daw muna niya kay Chronos para makapaghanda ito…
Ano naman kaya iyon na paghahandaan nito e nginitian lang naman niya ito? Sira talaga.
