July 1950
Lots of things have happened in the past years.
Jack and I graduated from college in late May.
We are still dating and we are even more in love than before.
It took a while to move on Alec's death. But it's in the past, he's in a better place. After getting my English degree I had signed a deal with a popular book company to write a book. It's about my whole life from the beginning of the war to now... I've been super busy lately because of it...

But bad things have been happening for the past month. The Korean War has started, and the Americans have entered it to help the South Koreans. You see the North Koreans have invaded South Korea. We want to help them, and they are drafting people to fight. Yesterday we got the letter that Jack is leaving next week to fight. He won't be twenty one until September yet he has to risk his life. He tells me he will be fine, but I can't help but worry. I've seen war first hand, I see what it does. I wish war didn't exist. People I care about died because of war. War takes innocent people, it doesn't care who it takes.
Jack's POV
She took Alec's death super hard, she was severely depressed for a few months. She almost lost her job, and I think that ended her depression. She realized she had to move on, it was in the past. Now I have to go off to war, I just took over my fathers company to. My dad had a major heart attack last April which put him in a coma. He died a few months ago now, which put me in charge. I don't really enjoy it, but it sure makes money. Bec and I moved into a gigantic penthouse in the middle of New York City last month. She's been working hard on her book, I'm quite proud of her. She's changed though since coming out of her depression, she's stronger. At least she acts like it, she still has those nightmares every so often. She will wake up crying, I can't even imagine how terrible her life was back then. Anyway I plan to surprise her tonight on our date...

That night
Becca's POV
Jack gave me directions to follow to our date destination.
I get to the park in the middle of the woods, then I spot candles. What is he up to now...
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Rose petals, dozens of them scattered along a trail.
Oh, Jack...
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
I got to the spot in the woods, candles it all around us. I looked around, he was nowhere to be found...
But just as I turned around to head on the trail I felt somebody tap my shoulder.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
I turned around again to find Jack on one knee, I put my hands over my mouth in shock.
. . . . . . . . . . .
"Rebecca May Alder, will you be my wife?" He asked, looking into my eyes.
"Yes, Yes of course!" I gushed as I jumped into his arms as he stood.

The Next Day
Since Jack had to leave in exactly a week, Monday. We decided to get married on Saturday, and we would spend Sunday enjoying our moments together before he had to leave. When he came back we would go on our honeymoon. I tried to focus on our wedding, not the fact he was leaving to fight in the ultimate danger zone.
. . . . . . . . . . . . .
Today I got to see my wedding ring, my engagement ring was beautiful but this... oh my.

 oh my
