"Focus. Absolute Focus."
Janna's voice soothed Lux.

"Huh? I really don't know what any of this means."
"Well, there are mage archetypes. Mage is the umbrella term for those who can use magic. There are those who use energy, those who practice dark or lights, or those in tune with natural magic. But we are the type that is tuned to one specific element. The primary elements are light, air, fire, earth, water, and darkness."
"So then, what would be the difference of those who practice dark or light, and an elementalist of dark or light?"
"Oh, well those who practice don't naturally have it. They must please their patron in order to be granted their magic, while elementalist have this power by default."
"Ah... so does this mean I'm fire?"
Janna let out a chuckle. "Oh no, sweetheart. Our personalities tend to mimic our element. As I am air, my personality matches. Less grounded, and more relaxed. While you are more up-beat and optimistic, you're a true light elementalist."
It was a good and happy time for a while, but Janna had to sit them down for a moment.
"Lux, your upbringing hasn't let your powers out to fully shine. It was always bottled up... This is why you had so many explosive episodes. So now, we need to let it all out."

"Light. Think about what it is."
Bright, welcoming...
She was stumped. There wasn't too much to think about with light.
Warm, colorless...
"Now, open your eyes, and envision that light in front of you."
Lux scrunched her face at this step. Trying to keep the steady image of light was hard. She kept thinking of other things, and it showed. There was a faint image of this shining prism, but it faded in and out as Lux stressed over keeping it up. The area always ended up scorched when it came back until Lux just stopped. She looked back up in shame to Janna who stayed calm.
Janna took note of this, and addressed it so. "Lux, when you input too much negative into something positive, you're output won't stabilize."
"Calm yourself. Don't pressure yourself so hard. Think positively, and don't concern yourself with all the negatives."
Lux repeated that in her head.
She closed her eyes, and took a breathe, applying Janna's advice.
"I can do this..." she whispered under her breath. She kept focus on positive things. Sunshines and rainbows... by the time she opened her eyes, it was actual sunshine and rainbows all around. The house had a prismatic sheen, around her were multiple anomalies of twisted lights, and rainbows shining all around.
But in the corner of her eye, she turned back to see a very impressed Janna drinking tea.
"Well it looks like we're on the right path. Good work for today, Lux. And soon you'll be wielding a wand in no time at this rate! But, we might have to do something about my roof's new sheen?"
They both let out a happy laugh. What a good turn her life had taken. Lux didn't know what it was, but when this butterfly landed on her, it was just the cherry to top off today.
