chapter nine

I waited for Gabe in the parking lot, which was where we agreed to meet. It felt like ages until he came out of the school.

"What took you so long?" I asked him when he neared me.

"I almost forgot, I was hanging with the boys.." he chuckled. I rolled my eyes. He tried to make another make out session with me but I kissed him once then pulled away.

"Gabe can I ask you a question?" I said nervously as we walked to the alley.

"Sure, anything!" he said. His charming smile put butterflies in my stomach.

"What are we?" I asked with a bit of a shaky voice. He shrugged.

"I dunno, what do you wanna be?" He asked. I wasn't too sure.

"Do you wanna be together?" I asked bravely.

"Of course I do, it's up to you," he said stopping to look my in the eyes.

"I do," I said as if it's a marriage or something. You may kiss the bride, is what I said in my head before Gabe leaned in and kissed me. I giggled and jumped up in his arms and he wrapped his hands around my ass. "I love you," I told him. I jumped down.

"I love you too," he said.

"Let's focus on our plan now though," I said. We walked into the alleyway. Sure enough, we could hear those two men talking in the distance.

I pat the silver rose in my pocket and began to worry. What if this doesn't work?

"Heyyy, look who decided to come back!! With another victim to kill!" The man cheered when he saw my come out of the shadows.

"I'm not here to hurt you. I wanna work with you. In fact, I'll give you your precious silver rose, if you do me a favour," I kept my best poker face. The men exchanged looks and nodded their heads.

"Very well then. Have a seat," the man said. "What would you like to know?"

"Why did you kill Chase?" I asked right off the bat, maybe not the best idea.

"Chase was a sneaky little boy. He liked to play tricks on people. We had this silver rose sitting in our base, which we will not show you yet, and he told us he wanted to help us steal this woman's purse with a 1,000 dollar gift card for amazon she got from her father when he died. We trusted him and then he took the silver rose from us. We were chasing him and we threatened to kill his true love. So he gave the rose to his true love and- wait a minute, why are we trusting you if the last time we trusted someone with information, this happened.." I wanted more info, but I thought now would be a good time to run. Maybe the rose was theirs after all, and Chase wasn't so innocent, but that's only their side of the story.

Gabe and I ran our hearts out and turned the corner.

"If they're following us, we can't go to my house, they're gonna know where I live then," I said out of breath.

"We are exactly like Chase," Gabe said in awe. Then we heard a loud gunshot.
