Calm down Sebastian, it’s just a coffee date. Jeff already agreed on going, so it will be just fine’.

I look in the mirror one more time and pull a strand of hair back in its place, before I leave my dorm. I take a deep breath and knock on the door of Jeff’s dorm.

“Hey.” The door swings open and I see Jeff with a big smile on his face.

“Hi. You look amazing.” He is wearing a pair of dark skinny jeans with holes around the knees, a grey t-shirt that matches his skin tone perfectly and some white Converse.

“Thanks. You look great too.” I tried my best to look good, but I know that Jeff looks way better than I do. I am wearing a pair of light jeans washed, a dark green t-shirt with my outworn black Converse’s.

“Thank you. Do you want to go?” I grab my keys from my jeans pocket. “It’s a bit of a drive to the Lima Bean.”

“But they definitely serve way better coffee over there than here in Westerville.” Jeff closes the door to his dorm.

“Agreed!” We walk over to my car and I hold to door of the passenger’s seat for Jeff. He mounts a ‘thank you’ to me before I walk over to the driver’s seat.

“You have a nice car.” Jeff lets his hands slide on the leather of his seat.

“It was a gift from my dad for my sixteenth birthday,” I explain. “It’s the newest BMW.” I put my keys in the contact and then I realise that I’m shaking. I quickly turn the key around and smile to Jeff.

Don’t let him know that you’re nervous’.

I turn the radio on before I pull up and drive away from Dalton’s parking.

“Oh god I love this song,” Jeff sighs. I turn the radio a bit louder and the tunes of Katy Perry’s ‘Teenage Dream’ are blasting through the speakers. Jeff is taping his fingers against his legs in the rhythm of the music. I hear a nice low sound and it takes me a little bit to realise that Jeff is actually singing along, really softly.

“You know you’ve got a great voice, right?” I take the turn to the highway. When I look over I see that Jeff stopped singing. His eyebrows are raised in surprise and his cheeks are slightly red.

“I am not… I auditioned for solos six times before you came to Dalton, but Blaine would always get the solo,” Jeff’s voice sounds flat.

“Believe me when I say that you have a beautiful voice.”

“Thanks Sebastian.” He smiles at me.

You make me, feel like I’m living in a teenage dream. The way you turn me on. I can’t sleep. Let’s run away and don’t ever look back. Don’t ever look back,” I basically scream the lyrics out.

Jeff giggles softly before he joins me: “My heart stops, when you look at me. Just one touch. Now baby I believe. This is real. So take a chance and don’t ever look back. Don’t ever look back.”

“You know that I can give you a solo, if you like…” I suggest but Jeff shakes his head straight away.

“I don’t want to get ‘special treatment’ because we like each other.” Right after he said that his face turns bright red.

“Do you like me?”

“I- I do. But you probably don’t like me and just wanted to go for a coffee because Hunter had better things to do and I just jumped onto the conclusion that this is a date and it’s probably not a date at all,” Jeff says fast.

“Shhh.” I place my hand on his knee to calm him down. “This is a date.” Jeff smiles at me and the way his eyes sparkle, makes my heart flutter. ‘Lima’, a sign says with a arrow to the right. I take the next turn and drive into the familiar road where the Lima Bean is. Lucky enough there is a parking spot right in front of the shop.

“What do you want?” I ask when we are in the Lima Bean.

“A latte with whipped cream?”

“Sure. If you find a table I will order our drinks.” Jeff nods and walks off to one of the empty tables while I go to order our coffees.

-

“Here you go.” I place two cardboard cups on the table in front of Jeff before I take place on the chair across him.

“Thank you.” Jeff smiles at me before he grabs his cup and takes a sip. “I was really surprised when you asked me out. You could basically get any guy at Dalton, who am I kidding you could even get any guy in Ohio. So why did you ask me out and not somebody else?” he asks straight to the point.

“I have actually liked you for a while now,” I admit. “And Hunter started realising it, so he kind of pushed me into asking you out. That’s when I realised that he was right and I had to ask you out.” Jeff places his hand on top of mine and only then I realise that my hand was actually shaking.

“Are you all right?”

“Yes. I’m just a little bit nervous,” I say and Jeff’s eyebrows raise in surprise.

“Am I making the Sebastian Smythe nervous?!” he giggles softly while he brushes his thumb against the top of my hand.

“Believe it or not, this is my first ever date.”

“Really? You were always the guy who would make out with all of the guys in Scandals. I mean, I only went with you guys a few times and you were always busy hooking up with some random guy.”

“Yes I hooked up with some guys but I never went on a date before. I never even ‘liked’ a guy either.” I put air quotes on the word ‘liked’. “So this is my first date, with the first guy that I really like. It’s a bit embarrassing to admit.”

“No it’s not. I think it’s cute.” Jeff smiles one of his heart-warming smiles again. “And it makes me feel special.”

“You are special.”

“No I’m not,” he mumbles but a slight smile appears on his face.

-

We talk for a little while and I start feeling more and more comfortable. Jeff is a really nice guy and he is funny and he is easy to talk with. After I bought his another coffee, we decide to go back to Dalton because it’s getting late and we still have to drive back. In the car I turn the radio back on and both me and Jeff scream the lyrics to every single song.

-

“This is was an amazing date. I had a lot of fun,” Jeff says when I park my car back at the Dalton parking.

“I had a great time too. Maybe we could go out again?”

“Yes that sounds good.”

“How about I walk you back to your dorm?” We walk to his dorm together and when we’re almost there Jeff grabs my hand, causing me to smile widely.

“Thanks for the great date. I can’t wait to go on the next one.” He stands on his tiptoes, because he is slightly smaller than I am, and presses a kiss on the corner of my mouth. I lean down and press a sweet kiss on his lips and when I pull I see that Jeff has a slight blush up his cheeks.

“I’ll see you tomorrow at Warbler practice?” I ask with a smile. He nods and opens his dorm with the key. “Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow killer.”

“See you tomorrow sweetheart,” is the last thing he says before he closes the door.
