It’s a rainy fall Saturday. Nick wakes up to the sound of rain slamming against the window. He pulls the covers up to his chin to stay warm. Across the room his boyfriend, Jeff, is peacefully asleep. Nick can’t help but smile. They have been best friends since forever, and it wasn’t until three months ago when Jeff told him he had crush on him. In the beginning it was a bit of a change, going from best friends to boyfriends, but it never felt odd or weird. Nick softly moves out of bed, not trying to wake his boyfriend up already, and slips underneath the covers of Jeff’s bed. By the way the boy is breathing regularly, Nick can tell that he’s still asleep.
How did I ever get so lucky?’ he things as he watches the other boy. His blonde hair is messily swept across his forehead and his lips are slightly chapped – which probably has to do with the awful weather going on.

“So how long have you been staring at me?” Jeff whispers without opening his eyes.

“I don’t know. Maybe five minutes. Maybe longer?” Nick giggles. Jeff eyes flutter open and a big smile lights up his entire face.

“Well isn’t my boyfriend a total creep?” he mumbles with a voice thick and husky from sleep.

“I’m not a creep!” Nick says but he can’t help but chuckle as he playfully hits Jeff on his arm.

“Wait weren’t we supposed to go on a date today? That outdoor football game?”

“I think we have to come up with a different plan to spend the day, because the weather outside is disgusting.”

“How about we stay in bed all day and just cuddle and talk and maybe even watch a movie?” Jeff offers. Jeff has always been the kind of hopeless romantic who always wants to cuddle and share sweet kisses. Not that Nick minds, obviously not, he is a romantic himself too and he loves to cuddle with his boyfriend.

“Sounds like a plan.” Nick wraps his arm around Jeff’s waist and gently presses a kiss on his forehead, before he lays his head down on the pillow, their faces only a few inches apart. Nick can’t help but stare at Jeff’s face, again. Once Jeff notices he slowly pulls the covers up to his nose.

“Hey don’t do that,” Nick protests and pushes the covers down slightly. “Don’t cover up your face. It’s beautiful. You are beautiful.” A deep red blush creeps up on Jeff’s cheeks – even though Jeff hates to blush, Nick finds him even more beautiful when he does that. Jeff has gotten compliments from Nick before, but this was different. There was something in the way he spoke, for some reason he sounded more emotional than ever before. Nick pulls the covers away from Jeff’s face and pecks his nose lightly. “You’re adorable. I don’t know how I ever got you.”

“Are you kidding me?” Jeff says loudly. “You are without a doubt the hottest guy at Dalton. You have dozens of talents and you’re also sporty. Those are the things that lots of people find attractive, you know. You could easily pick any guy you want. But you picked me.”

“That’s not true! You’re the cutest boy at Dalton. And no, there aren’t exactly a lot of guys who would want to date me, but even if they did none of that matters because I have the best boyfriend; you. you shouldn’t be so hard on yourself. I did not ‘pick’ you. I loved you ever since we became best friends.” Only then Nick realises what he said. Jeff stares at him with open mouth, but Nick doesn’t regret what he said. He did love Jeff for a long time, he just never wanted to bring it up because that might’ve scared Jeff away. But when he saw his boyfriend sleeping, so peacefully, so innocently and so beautifully he knew it for sure. He is in love with Jeff Sterling. “I love you,” he repeats, letting Jeff know that he means it.

“I- I love you too,” Jeff stutters. His cheeks turn pink again. “I really do.” Nick smiles and leans over to capture the taller boy’s lips in a sweet kiss.

They spend the rest of the day cuddled up in Jeff’s bed while they watch a bunch of Disney movies – Jeff’s request, obviously – and cuddle all the way through them, while every now and then they share kisses. Both Nick and Jeff can’t seem to stop smiling, because it’s true; they are both deeply in love.
