I'm sure that if you've ever attempted to write a full fanfiction or even a chapter of a book, you've encountered writer's block...
To be honest, there isn't much you can do about writer's block. It all really comes down to your own motivation and procrastination, though there are some things that could help you with those.
What you need to know first is that writer's block arrives when you're accustomed to your writing environment and the stuff that you write—and you're bored of it so you lack motivation. Maybe you're not entirely "bored" of it but you can't get any thoughts out because you're not excited to write the story.
Sooo to overcome writer's block, change one or more of the things that you've started to get used to.
1. Change your music
If you're a picky music lover like me then you most likely repeat the same songs and skip the ones that you don't like. Changing music has definitely helped me overcome writer's block many many times. And no, not just change as in listen to the songs you usually skip, but change as in a whole other genre. Listening to new music might bring in new ideas, and you may be inspired to write more. (Even reading songs' lyrics is really helpful to me, because sometimes the words are really beautiful and remind me of how amazing writing can be.)
2. Change your environment
Now this one is a little harder to do I guess?? Because some circumstances could bring you to the fact that you can't go outside of your house to work, but to be honest even a small change of environment is good too. Crack open a window, work in the living room/dining room, sit on the couch instead of at a desk. I don't know what you can change but just try it, because its helped me many times
3. Read a book
Maybe, if you're like me, you've spent so much time writing and not enough time reading. This could sap all the ideas from your brain and you end up feeling tired about the whole thought of writing. Reading someone else's book is always a great idea if you're running out of fuel. Just like reading music's lyrics, reading a book could remind you of why you like writing in the first place. For example I was totally losing motivation for my three shot but then I decided to stop reading about Chanbaek and I just read about a whole different ship (ZoSAn) and I found the writing so nice and beautiful that I was inspired to write again.
4. Talk to someone
I have this whole group of people who like writing, and sometimes I just talk to them about it when I don't feel like my writing is getting anywhere. It's always nice getting insight on your books and more often than not your friends motivate you hAh
5. Delete and repeat
God, the amount of times I've deleted a chapter because of writer's block is insane. The thing with writer's block is that you can write yourself into one, where the chapter just doesn't sit right with you but you keep writing it because you think "I'm already this far, why should I delete it and restart" but restarting it entirely usually takes less time than sitting and waiting for ideas. I've written a 12K one shot that I was totally stuck for but I didn't want to delete it because I was so far in!! But eventually, after two months or so, I just deleted it. I deleted the whole 12K and just rewrote it again with a fresh mind, knowing that now I could change what I wanted to with a blank page. Then it took me only a week to get just as many words, but with way better writing quality and no writer's blocks ://
If you're really that afraid of deleting all of your progress, save it in your notes or smthing and try to write without thinking about your first copy.Andddd, if all else fails, just take a break.
Stop writing for a while. Whether that be for a day or for an entire year, it really doesn't matter.
Focus on something other than writing, look at your life differently. Go on a walk or smthing you hermit. The world is rlly big and you'll definitely find something that'll inspire you, no matter where u are.
That's all I can really say about writer's block, and I hope it helps you in some way :))
ur -10 writer is oot.
