Not your High school drama

Surpriseeee !

I left from the backstage and went to a small table that all the contestants where sitting since they were done . The place was as full as it could get ! That was the first time I was actually playing attention to the bar .Yesterday when I came for the sound check I was so deep into my thoughts that I really didn't evaluate it !

I was a big space with brown tables . a black chairs . The waiting stuff where all young and pretty girls . That seemed obvious. I can't have any alcohol so I was drinking a pop . I don't like pops but there was nothing more I could do anyway !

After me there was a girl who was also really funny and last but not least was Arnold ! 

When the time came though the owner who was also the presenter of the event announced that the last participant decided to withdraw his participation  the very last minute !That was good news . The voting part was quite stressful with people writing down numbers and passing them to the owner . He counted them  down and after 20 minutes I found out that ... I got forth place! 

I was a little devastated but it was my first try so I couldn't ask for more . I know we all dream for something big an marvelous  but reality sometimes shuts us down . I was happy with myself . I did something that  I wanted for sometime now and work hard on it . 

As I was think  stuff like that I saw a small figure coming towards me . It was Jane ! She came to see my performance . That was insane ! She is the one who told  me to never talk to her again ! 

"That was a good job you did . " she said . 

" It wasn't thank to you though ! " I said with a bitter tone ! 

" Really what do you with I was going to leave you all alone ? The Sculley effect ?! How didn't you get this ?" she asked me with a surprise on her face .

"To get what?" I asked confused. 

" I thought pop culture was your thing .... The Sculley effect from X-files , when a woman fiction character was a scientist and turn a lot of women to science... ! " she explained .

Oh my God how come and I didn't get that ?! What the hell !? 

"You're orange sausage ! What the hell ! " I was shocked .

"I told you high school is a business and people don't like me ! That wouldn't help you! So by simply moved a little in the back I found a way to help you ! " she said with her eyes simply looking right through me ! 

"So the whole time you wanted to help me ?" I asked . 

"Yeah , and by the way it was really dumb of you to simply take advice from someone form the Internet, I could be a serial killer !  " She was all serious about it too !

" I know but I still can't believe that ,  you came through for me after all ! " I was still stuck on that huge fact . 

" Let's go ... You don't have to run naked in a prom so this is huge ! " she said. 

"But ... But I lost !" I said. 

" No you won ... He didn't keep his part of the deal though  , he didn't perform at all... " she explained .

" That's true !" I said . I was stunt . That moment was awesome . I had to win or he had to win the contest in order to win . He didn't perform at all ! 

" A victory with a technicality  it's still a victory !" she said. 

I was so happy this is the first time that I win anything in my life ! My smile was big as hell ! Turns out Arnold's attitude didn't help him . I wanted to hang out with Jane so she was the first who came to my apartment! We talked about the three weeks we were apart and I found out how much I missed her ! had to stop being friends with her to realize that the things that they connect us is deeper that simply sharing a class together ... 

"A lot of things changed  in this short period of time ... I mean I leave you alone and no you have a place to yourself and ! What would happen after college when we will no see each other for months ?! " asked Jane . 

" I don't know , but that's a good test drive and my parents where okay with this for now so it's cool ! What's going on with you ? " I asked . 

"Well remember Jason , I asked him out but he turned me down so I have nothing new ... I simply studied and talked to you via " The Impression " . How awful is this chat room !? I mean who visits chat rooms anyway nowadays ?!" she asked with a sarcastic tone . 

I laughed and we continue chatting . God I missed her ! i told her about Mary and what was going on and about how much my life changed by standing up against Arnold . I found out that he wasn't as famous as I thought  . I've created that monster in my own  head . Probably for explaining my failures . 

The prom was coming in a couple of days , this Saturday to be more specific . I didn't wanna go and Jane was also not  a big fan of stuff like that. After we were done talking she left and went home . Now for the first time I was alone and without a care in my mind .

I stepped out in the balcony and watched the people walking by . It was about 1 : 30 in the morning so most of them where simply going home after a beer at the local bars or a restaurant . My mind went on and on about how much pressure I put on myself the last few days . It wasn't a stupid  contest and nothing more . Now I could see that . I grabbed a chair and placed it on the balcony so I had a place to sit . After that Monday I'll have two extra months of school and after that I would be free to go to college . Everything big that I could pull of here was done . Now the only thing I had to do is to give some people a piece of my mind ! But I preferred not too ...
