Chapter 8 : Three days more

[Hermione]

I was staring out of the window, thinking about Ron, when I saw Pig (Ron's owl) coming. I opened the window and he came inside. Enthusiastic as always to have done his delivery, he sat on the dining table. I bought some water for him in a bowl. He had bought a letter for me, which was obviously, from Ron. I could recognize his untidy handwriting.

Dear Mione,
I am missing you so much. I hope you will come back soon. We are all okay here, I have been helping George with his joke shop. Harry and Ginny... well, I think I don't need to tell how they are. Mum and Dad are also okay.
How are you, and your parents? I hope you are not sad without me :-)
When are you coming back? Please come back soon. Send a me a reply as early as possible.

Mum came inside.

"Who's letter is it?"

"My friend."

"Oh, what is his name again? Ron, right?"

I blinked.

"Yeah."

"So, Ron has been regularly sending you a lot of letters this whole time."

"And?"

"Is he just your friend?"

What am I supposed to say? I never had a boyfriend in past.

"Of course, Mom. Its nothing like that. It is just that he has been my best friend for seven years now, and we were living together for he past whole year, as I told you."

She just nodded. I guess my lying skills aren't that great.

I went into my room grabbed some parchment and a quill. Ink, ink, ink, where is it? I searched my drawer and found it. I started scribbling

Dear Ron,
I am good. I have been missing you too!
I am pretty good here, catching up with Mom and Dad. But I am very bored without you :-)
I will be returning three days later.
Today, when you letter arrived, Mom asked me from who it was. When I told her that it is from you, she started wondering if we are just friends. I haven't told them, yet.

I sealed it and went downstairs and gave it to Pig and he looked over-enthusisastic again, ready for a delivery.

[Ron]

I was waiting for Hermione's letter when I saw Pig coming. I opened the window and he came inside. I took the letter from him and read it.

Dear Ron,
I am good. I have been missing you too!

"So, when is Hermione coming back?" Harry asked me. I didn't realize when did he come inside.

"Three days later."

"Oh, I hope you'll be able to wait untill then."

I snorted.

"Of course, I will."
