Chapter 10
Mr. Stefan Salazar.
I wonder what he would look like. I’m drifting away to reality and I’m starting to make some speculations on the guy that I’m meeting with today. I spent all my time in the car daydreaming about what this man would look like.
I bet he’s some obese, bearded, creepy-looking guy. I mean, if he’s hot and all he wouldn’t have a hard time looking for a girl. Hmm. Maybe he’s weird. An aggressive type of person. A nose picker …maybe. Or a guy who has an intense body odor. Or just another maniac.
I was in awe the moment we arrived at Mrs. Salazar’s sanctuary. I love eco friendly houses. It’s as if I took a trip to a secluded forest or park. The house is entirely made out of wood and their porch is ceramic tiled.
Adelaida welcomed us and gave each of us a quick hug.
“I apologize. The food is not yet ready.” Adelaida said.
“It’s ok, Adie” mom exchanged butterfly kisses with her.
Adelaida turned to my direction and gave me a compliment.
“You look beautiful as always, Margaret.”
I frankly made an effort to look pleasing today. I just applied some light makeup, put on my favourite black heels and a white over the knee corset dress. I did not even bother braiding my hair. I just leave it as it is.
I’m looking around the place, looking for that Stefan guy. Unfortunately Adelaida noticed me.
“Stefan’s not yet here, he’s arranging some business deal for our real estate business.”
“Where’s your husband?” he asked mom.
“He won’t make it. He’ll be staying at our resort in Taytay for two weeks. There’s too much work to do.”
After the conversation, she then escorted us to their backyard. We sat at the wooden picnic table as Mrs. Salazar opened the sliding door towards the kitchen. The butler come to our aid and gave us a glass of water. We all decided to wait for Stefan before eating. Meanwhile, Mrs. Salazar filled the place with Beethoven’s music. Mrs. Salazar began sporting her outfit.
She was wearing a casual floral dress with a brown, chunky belt. She looks like a 20 year old woman.
“I’ll tour you guys to my house.” she reached for my hand and started touring the house.
They have a pool. That’s what got my attention the most since swimming is my passion. Their house is furnished with hardwood floors. The house is very spacious, centralized, and intricately designed.
After the tour, Mrs. Salazar seemed to have noticed my fascination with the pool. I was embarrassed deep inside. I’m like a person who saw a pool for the first time. I do that a lot.
“You can swim here if you like.” Adelaida uttered.
Adelaida ordered her maids to serve lunch already.
“We must eat. Let’s just go ahead.”
It’s like a feast here. Adelaida over prepared, I should say. Halfway to the meal, adelaida started talking about Stefan.
“Stefan is a very hardworking man. He got his looks from me. He will soon manage the whole business. The only thing that’s lacking for him is a family of his own.”
I can’t even swallow my food when she said that.
“It’s about time for him to start a family. Don’t you think?”
I was about to answer adelaida when we all heard the door open.
I stood up and prepared to give Stefan a warm welcome.
Stefan walked towards me and that was the time when I hope the ground could swallow me up.
He’s the man at the bar! I’m shocked.
We both glanced at each other.
Mom noticed us. “Do you know each other?” she asked.
Stefan gave me a playful smile and answered mom’s question.
“no.” he then kissed my hand and introduced himself formally.
I smiled in reply and tried to control my shaky voice. “I’m Margaret.”
I excused myself as I grabbed my wine and headed inside the house. Stefan followed me. Now Mrs. Salazar and mom are starting to eye on us.
“Don’t you think it’s too early to get drunk?” he told me.
I smirked.
“This is the only thing that’s making me live through this nightmare.” I told him without looking.
He cackled and walked in front of me.
“Why? Aren’t you enjoying this?”
I looked at him keenly. Well, he looks very respectable in his tuxedo and tie. It’s good to know that I’m not the only one who made an effort here. But now I even regretted preparing so much for this day that happened to be catastrophic.
I gave him a stern look as I sip some wine.
“You must really hate me, don’t you?” he spoke.
“Who would love and even like a jerk like you? Don’t tell me you forgot who I am. Well, let me give you a heads up. I’m just the lady that you attempted to take advantage of at a freaking bar!” I panned.
He seemed to have been enlightened.
“So, it was you then. I apologize for my behavior that night. I was drunk and I don’t know what I was doing.”
I didn’t reply.
“You know what? You can spare me the hate and just tell my mom that I’m backing out on this one…”
He tucked my stray hair at the back of my ear.
“… But then again, in reality it won’t be that easy, right?”
I grabbed his hand and stared fiercely at him.
“What do you want? You know that we both despise each other so just back out of this and maybe I’ll forgive you.”
He chortled. “I never thought my life would be this exciting. But I feel for you and if you’re firmly decided in backing out, then I’ll help you.”
He made a kind gesture and held my hand as He tugged me towards his mom. Something inside me is telling me that he’s up to something vile.
We went to the backyard again and I can see adelaida and mom grinning.
I sat beside mom as he went to Adelaida’s side.
“What do you think?” I heard his mom whisper to him.
He looked at him and I gave him a thank you nod.
“She’s lovely mom. I’d love to date her. We get along quite well, it’s surreal.”
I gave them a forced smile as I quickly dragged Stefan into the house.
“WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? What did you do? You were supposed to back out!” I hissed.
“I changed my mind. We just have a good chemistry, don’t you feel it? We can be an item, you know. A Big one.” He winked at me.
What a hardcore, egoistic jerk! I cannot believe it. there’s no getting out , my life will soon be a sham!
