Curiosity

After that strange encounter at the northern markets, I couldn't help but wonder if there were other dragon riders. It was a very confusing thing, seeing another skrill with a rider, but it only peaked my curiosity. I wanted to know who this kid was and how he got a skrill, whether by honest means, or if he was a hunter.

Asking around, from both the shady and the honest, I finally found a trail. A berserker had a very interesting story about his chief capturing a skrill, but it escaped, with help. I left Whirlwind behind,so as to not give myself away, so he assumed I was a hunter searching for the skrill. He happily provided me with the island's location and the amount of gold the chief was willing to pay to get it back.

"Be careful lass, Chief Dagur is known to go a little...well, berserk at times."
I chuckled at that statement.

"I will keep that in mind, thanks."

The salt air stings my face as I sail toward Berserker island. Going by the description of the chief, I thought it would be best if I didn't come in riding Whirlwind. Currently he was circling above my boat. I could tell he was anxious about my plan. I whistled to get his attention and did a hand signal, telling him to get out of sight. We were approaching the island.

I docked my boat and got a strange welcome. A guard was at the dock, and promptly turned me away when I tried to go past.

"Trading season is done," he grunted, "go away."

"I am sure your Chief wouldn't appreciate it if you turned away the bounty hunter with the information on his skrill." I hoped the guard didn't call my bluff. He stepped back and glared at me as I passed.

I let out a sigh. So far so good.

The Chief wasn't hard to find. He was in the process of what looked like throwing someone off the cliff. The Chief had many scars and tattoos on his face and arms. He did look as crazy as he sounded. I was careful in my approach, but I was noticed quickly.
The Chief had a furious glint in his eyes. I knew I had to tread lightly if I wanted information on the silver-eyed kid.

"What is your business here?" the Chief asked.

"I am here for information on the bounty you put out for that skrill," I bluffed.
He glared harshly at me for a moment.

"You seem young for a bounty hunter. Or even a trapper for that matter." He wasn't buying my bluff.

"How do you think I got this armor? It's not like I found armor made of skrill scales laying on the ground." I tried to keep a straight face as I said that. I was implying that I killed a dragon.
He laughed, loud and obnoxious.

"You sound like my type of viking. How did you kill it?"

I froze. This was something I had not anticipated. He looked at me suspiciously and so did the others around him.

I hoped that the saying "Curiosity killed the dragon" wouldn't be true in my case.
