sonia kaspbrak was the face of all things unholy. she followed no rules except her own. if things didn't go her way she threw a tantrum. eddie was fed up with every part of it. he had been in his room for days on days, he can't even keep track. all because sonia said so. eddie's loving heart soon turned to one of hatred and vengeance. sonia ruined eddies life, so he was gonna return the favor, and there was only one way to do it.

eddie was her precious son, she'd do anything for eddie but she would also do anything to him including hitting him. her precious son, had a storm brewing in his mind—thinking of the ways to strike his mother back, not physically but mentally. after what seemed like hours of thinking eddie had an idea, he was gonna run away.

of course eddie had to think out every scenario, every punishment if he was caught, and every little aspect of his plan—each ended in a horrendous way but that could never stop him.

he walked over to his closet and opened the door that was painted a light cream color. he reached onto the top shelf in his closet and pulled down a duffle bag, he had it from a trip him and his mother took to visit his cousins in indiana. he began putting everything in it, he didn't have much so of course all his polos, socks, underwear, shorts, pants, and both fanny packs fit in the duffle bag.

as he was zipping the bag he noticed a flaw in his plan, his window was nailed shut, thanks to the good for nothing that he called 'mom'. as he thought about what his plan b would be he heard the locks on his door jiggling, his mother was coming in. he quickly shoved the duffle bag under his bed and jumped in bed while grabbing a random comic and laid there pretending to read it as his door was opened.

"hey, eddie bear," sonia spoke calmly, as if she was kind. eddie saw straight through her bull.

he only grunted in response, he didn't want to talk to sonia, never again.

she sat on the edge of his bed only staring at the young boy, "i'm sorry eddie bear," she spoke slowly. eddie refused to respond and continued to flip through his comic book. sonia only lowered her head and left them room letting out a small 'goodnight' as if her feelings her actually hurt, eddie was satisfied at that. she needed to feel how he's always felt.

after she exited his room eddie jumped off his bed continuing to think of what he would do. he could only think of one answer, break the window. he has to do it quitely or risk being caught.

he looked around his room and saw a metal water bottle he would always carry around when he was younger, that was the perfect thing to break the window silently. he grabs it and gently hits the window but to his surprise that made the loudest noise, most likely waking the neighborhood. as soon as he did that he heard footsteps and multiple shouts from his mother. if he was gonna run he had to do it now, it was now or never.

in one swift movement he threw his bag to the ground followed by his fragile body, both falling down 2 stories. eddie landed on top of his duffle bag but that didn't completely break his fall, he was still struggling to breath since he landed directly on his back. eddie had a 4 minute opening, it takes his mother 2 minutes to get up the stairs and 2 to get back down. he stayed on the ground trying to regain his breath as his mother looked down and screamed, he had been on the ground for 2 minutes. he had 2 minutes left, he gathered all of his strength and ran. he ran far and fast ignoring the shouts from his street, he ran taking in all the air hitting his face and his bag continuously hitting his leg from bouncing. eddie was never allowed to run, the feeling was amazing and he finally felt free.

he stopped at a streetlight and caught his breath, he took in the world around him as well. eddie was free for once, he was outside alone for once, and he couldn't be any prouder of himself. he did this on his own, no help from anyone.

now it was onto the next step of his plan, find richie and the group. he missed all of them, but he missed richie the most. he thought to himself how it was weird how he individualized richie from the rest of the group, yeah he enjoyed all their company when they are together but he could enjoy richie even if it was just them two all alone.

it was a friday night and late, but eddie kept hope that he would hear the laughter of the group somewhere, he hoped they were still out. he walked around what seemed like the whole town as he searched for the group. an hour passed, he could hear the sirens of cops so he ran again. he found an ally and stayed there waiting for the noise to die down but as he was there he saw a group of guys.

"hey, kid," one spoke mean mugging eddie.

"y-yes?" eddie responded slowly backing up.

"where ya from?" another member of the group spoke, he was much bigger in both height and weight.

"d-d-d-d," eddie stuttered our of fear of the group, they were very intimidating to the small boy.

"d-d-d-d, s-s-s-pit it out," one of the members said, spitting while he talked. the spit landed directly in between his eyes, eddie gagged and was shocked he didn't faint.

"l-leave me a-alone," eddie said as he was preparing to run once again.

"get him." what seemed like the leader said cold and harsh. with those simple words the 2 other members bolted, and so did eddie.

he ran for his life dodging. cars in the street, hoping short fences, and pushing people out of the way. he was a fast runner, faster then all of the guys chasing him combined. he got far enough to give him time to find a hiding spot he ran over to a neighborhood, completely ignoring that it was his own, and he found a random home and his in the bushes beneath a window quickly digging through his bag for a rag to wipe the spit that was still on his face, and also wipe blood from cuts he got from fences and random corners. as he was attending to his wounds he heard the sound of sneakers smacking against the ground, he put his hand over his mouth praying that none of them would realize he was in the bush only 10 feet away.

"where the fuck did he go?!" the leader yelled angrily.

no one answered, and the silence was followed by sneakers running once again. they were gone still running around searching for eddie.

he let out a heavy breath that he had been holding on out of fear, he stayed behind the bush to gather himself. he was thinking that this would have to be the spot he slept since there was no sign of richie and his friends.

eddie laid his head down, using his bag as a pillow and closed his eyes. right before he was about to fall into a deep slumber he was woken by a painful blow to the stomach.

"ow, fuck!" the other person spoke, eddie recognized that voice like no other.

"ow ow ow," eddie sat up holding his stomach staring into the other persons eyes, yet he couldn't get a clear visual of their face because of the darkness of the night.

"ed's, is that you?" the other boy crawled forward letting his face be clear in the moonlight.

"holy shit richie, i missed you," eddie leaned forward and hugged the other boy, he missed his hugs so much.

"i missed you too ed's, so much. and what're you doing out here? it's too cold for you to be out," richie spoke quitely as he slightly pulled away and stared at the young boy concerned about his well being.

eddie explained everything from the time he left the hospital to the current position he was in. he let a few tears slip out that we're quickly wiped away by richie. richie hugged the boy tighter than he ever had before.

"i don't know what to do anymore," eddie spoke slightly hiccuping from crying, still hugging richie tightly.

"you're staying with me ed's, i don't care what you say. you are staying with me, i'll keep you safe ed's." richie said softly as he held onto eddie tight.

eddie only nodded in response holding richie tighter, he missed richie greatly. he could feel richies heartbeat in his chest, and surely richie could feel eddies. they both felt warm and safe together even with a world so cold and scary all around them.
