"find some time to do somethiiiing," eddie sang along to the soothing lyrics he was woken with, he loved Tyler, The creator and apparently, so did richie. "what're you doing?" eddie was now sitting up, in richies bed while wearing richies clothes and getting up to head to the kitchen to eat richies food. richie wouldn't have it any other way.
"just cleaning my room a little, where ya going?" richie responded as he watched eddie hop down from the bed, he found it adorable how eddie couldn't reach the floor.
"i'm hungry, pancakes?" eddie responded slightly glancing over at richie and noticed he was giggling uncontrollably, "what's funny?" eddie said trying to withhold his own laugh, richies laugh was so contagious and eddie loved it.
"go look in the mirror eds," richie spoke continuing to giggle as he swept the floor and continuing to sing the next song, "-and after the storm is when the flowers bloom," eddie smiles at richies voice, he truly thought it was amazing.
eddie heads towards the bathroom to see what's so funny and is shocked, "why didn't you tell me, richie!" eddie yells from the bathroom and was only met with a loud laughter from richies direction. eddies hair was a mess, never before seen by anyone else.
eddies hair was straight when it's short, but since eddie had been staying richies for about a week and a half, and his hair grows extremely fast—his curls started to sprout. richie has never seen them and thought eddie did it as a joke but in reality, that was eddies natural hair but his mother would always say it looked "messy" so she would always have it cut short so it was "neat", "you know this is my natural hair right?" eddie said to richie as richie stared at him while leaning on the door frame.
"i love it, it's cute," richie said quickly turning around and heading down stairs leaving their conversation leaving eddie awkwardly standing there with the same blushed cheeks along with butterflies in his stomach—butterflies of joy.
eddie had completely changed staying with richie, he had let loose for once in his life. his mother no longer dictated his life, she still continued where eddie could go though. eddie was in hiding, he had been ever since he ran away from his sanctuary. police searched the town and after a few days of coming up short they began to search sewers, looking for a body. sonia was losing her mind and eddie saw it. he watched her on the news with a smirk on his face, he continued to remind himself who she is—what she is.
for the time being eddie was a complete secret, richies friend group had no idea where eddie was either yet they were insanely concerned, it filled eddie with joy that someone cared. even though eddie was technically doing what he always did, which was staying inside, but this time he loved life a little bit more—especially because richie was by his side.
the cops had yet to suspect anything about richie or any of the other kids in his group. richie knew if he was caught with eddie in his house he would be blamed for his disappearance, but they had a plan.
richie and eddie discuss the plan for hours on how they would introduce eddie back into the world as what very little amount of people expect, alive and thriving—not a scratch on his tiny frame. the plan was to first reveal their secret to the friend group. richie would've never gone through with hiding eddie if his parents had been around, richie's parents went on multiple business trips and since it was now summer they decided to take a very extended one, leaving richie alone all summer—or so they thought.
eddie felt relief being with richie but continued to stress over richies safety. eddie had tried leaving richie before, richie insisted that he stayed and blocked the window for eddie to leave. eddie did not want richie anywhere near the storm that was soon gonna come, it was going to be huge, yet eddie always reminded himself, after the storm is when the flowers bloom.
the day kept on going, richie and eddie we're bored as they usually were. they couldn't leave the house and risk eddie being seen by a local who had seen the thousands of missing signs scattered all across derry covering every inch and all had a big picture of eddies face plastered on them, they couldn't risk it—not even for a quick walk down the street.
they decided on napping since there was not a lot to do, they were just gonna wait until 9:00 pm, which is when richie told all his friends to arrive.
richie was awoken to multiple pounds on his front door along with an pounding headache, he glanced on the clock and jumped up quickly after realizing it read 9:46 pm. he ran to the door that was nearly being broken by the multiple blows to it. he was met with 5 angry teens and quickly raising his hands in a way of saying he's sorry.
"what the hell richie!" beverley shouted at richie nearly waking eddie up from his slumber.
"shhhh," richie responded as he put a finger over her lips only to get it slapped away by the furious girl.
"don't shush me, we've been waiting out here forever!" she yelled again become more infuriated.
"shut up beverly, you're gonna wake him up!" richie responded as his eyes widened and he put his hand over his mouth quickly.
each teen glanced to each other, all confused as who "he" was. of course they threw hundreds of questions at richie but the main one was, "who the hell is 'he'?" they all said at almost the exact same time, it was kinda creepy to richie.
"well 'he' is why i wanted everyone to come tonight, i have something to tell you all," richies time shifted to a very serious one. all of his friends knew he was the jokester but if richie was being serious for once than it was definitely be something worth listening to. "i have someone i need to show you, stay here," richie said as he turned on his heel and walked down the hall.
"everyone close your eyes!" richie shouted from in the bedroom while guiding a very sleepy eddie by his shoulders to the rest of the group. he took him to where they were all standing, all with hands over their eyes, "open!" richie shouted.
as soon as each person took in the sight of eddie they gasped, "h-h-holy shit, what'd you do to your hair??" bill was the first to say anything and was soon followed by the group hugging eddie and hysterically laughing.
"it's my natural hair!" eddie responded as he hugged everyone back still laughing.
beverly had hugged him first, holding him tight. she barely knew the young boy but she could definitely feel the pain radiating off his small figure when she met him, he needed a hug more than anything. it was a very emotional moment for her, she truly cared about eddie.
"i thought you were dead!" beverley let out a choked laugh as she wiped away a single tear.
"i wish!" eddie responded clearly joking with everyone and it was followed by multiple laughs.
they were all back together, but now it was time to figure out what exactly to do with eddie, they all refused to take him back to his mother—she didn't deserve him. they had to make a plan, a plan to make sure eddie is safe but also isn't miserable locked away in another abusive home. they all had to help eddie, they all wanted to help eddie. he was now a huge part of the group, and he realized it. he was truly feeling butterflies in his stomach, these were butterflies of joy—eddie was happy that he was truly cared for, and he cared for them—more than anything in the world, yet he cared for richie a little bit more and he couldn't figure out why the young curly headed boy with huge coke bottle glasses caught his eye.
