"This is horrible, the atrocities," Lydia banged the table with her fist.
"As if you can do a damned thing about this situation," Flynn retorted.
"But we can try to do something. We just can't let the dark forces capture the city, unleashing the reign of terror," Lydia responded with equal zeal, storming out of the room into the streets outside.
The sky was overcast with dark, fiery clouds and the sun had not appeared for days. Temperatures had fallen to -10 degrees Celsius in the cursed city.
Again she saw the shadow.
Thrusting her hand in her pockets, she quickened her pace.
The dark shadow had been following her for quite some days now.
Reached her room, turning the keys in the lock, she stormed in, locking the door behind her.
She collapsed with her back to the door.
Her blood ran cold as she realised that someone was sitting on the couch in her living room, his dark eyes scanning her from head to toe.
"You've grown fairly well since the last time I saw you," he smirked.
"How the heck did you get in? I don't know you," she snapped.
"I practically am your creator," the creepy man got up from his seat, casually circling her.
She felt really uncomfortable.
"You must be thinking how," he answered her unspoken question, "Girl, you aren't human. Not like the common ones anyway. You're special, mutated. You're an experimental child, somewhat like a designer baby. You have exceptional strength, intelligence and looks, all in one. You're the only successful creation of 'Project Superhuman'. You're something with genes of a lion and an eagle incorporated into your DNA."
She stood still unable to form coherent words. The greatest shock of it was that she wasn't a common human.
"They wanted to destroy you, to not keep any evidence of our misdeeds. Genetically experimenting with human genome is unlawful and unethical. Yet we had done it," His voice trailed off, " I saved you, and left you with your foster parents, your powers forever hidden from the world. Now you're the only superhuman here. You need to realize your true potential and save the world from the evil. That's the whole purpose why we created you in the first place."
She crossed her arms over her chest,"What if I don't agree to be your plaything anymore?"
"You can't deny that you wanted to do something to end the darkness. We've been stalking you for sometime," he glared.
"Fine," she knew her arguments were defeated, " What do I have to do?"
"Nothing," the man came and handed her a watch, "This will help you harness powers from the bioenergy field and help you metamorphose into a superhero. The inbuilt antigravity creators will help you fly and your cape is made up of super elastic steel threads, explosion-proof. So just get going."
She put on the watch with shaking hands and pressed the morph button.
"Evil forces, here I come," she promised silently.
