Veretta felt a familiar shadow being cast on her she lay in her bed. Lycon was towering over Veretta, arms at the sides, facing down as she stared at her soulmate's beautiful face.

"You're drop dead gorgeous, love." She complimented as her dominant hand made its way to Veretta's face. "I could stare at you all day." Lycon added as her gaze fixed on Veretta's. The way her eyes lit up was enough to brighten the entire room.

Veretta giggled and wrapped her hands around Lycon's body. "I like hearing you say that." She replied before pulling her in in for a quick peck on the lips, which Lycon returned without hesitation.

"But... I like you even better." Veretta joked with a playful wink before she allowed her love to place her lips on hers once more for a longer exchange.

An inexplicable warmth filled them, soothing their hearts. The lovers were engrossed in their intimate moment, neither of them were pulling away.

However, inside Veretta's heart, grew a fear which constantly crept up her spine. Eventually, Lycon will leave you and you'll never get to hold her or kiss her the way you're doing now, Veretta.

She held on tighter.

"Do you love me?" Veretta asked, her voice shaking slightly when they, alas, pulled away from the eternal kiss.

Lycon stroked her face gently, "Of course I do. Even when I die, I will."

They lay together, it was as though time took a standstill. Every thing was surreal, a sweet dream. The lovebirds wished that it would remain as such forever, as they lay in each others' warm and loving embrace.

However, they were not naive. They knew that moment could not last, and they knew that time could not ever slow down or stop for anyone.

"I'll love you forever, too." Veretta muttered as she fell into a peaceful slumber for the first time in a decade.

It was silent, aside from the sound of Veretta's breathing as she slept. Lycon smiled sadly. "I love you... I'm sorry."

Tears welled up in her eyes, and she had to bite her lip in order to prevent any sound from escaping her lips that might wake Veretta.

I am really sorry, love.

...

"No. This can't be..." She muttered as the piece of paper in her hands fell from her shaky grasp.

Impossible. Veretta thought as she scrambled to her phone and opened her communication app.

Please reply, please answer- please please! She begged as she sent a spam of messages to her. This was when she saw a long text before. Tears started to roll down her cold cheeks.

...

"Dear Veretta,

By the time you read this message, I'm probably dying, or I'm already dead. I know you are probably crying, asking yourself 'why' and blaming yourself for my death. It's alright, I'm still there. In your mind, in your memories. Most importantly, in your heart.

Go on and do amazing things. I need you to give the choir, and our class, hope. Inspire them to do so. I know you would mourn the most, but I also know that the fact that you can pick yourself back up, would drive the others to do so too. And upon seeing that happen, I'd look at you from where I am, and say, 'That's it. I'm rooting for ya, kid.' Show them something I can't. Hope.
