The story started before I was born with the end of what are now called the Final Wars. From what I've been taught to believe, the wars involved the entire world and lasted several long years, only to end in a gruesome stalemate. Each country suffered tremendous casualties. Nearly half the world's total population was wiped out.

When I say it involved the entire world, I don't mean that whole countries were fighting against each other. They started as small uprisings in every realm. Street fights, muggings, massacres. People turned on humanity itself, fighting anyone that didn't agree with everything they said.

The issues grew exponentially. Governments were ripped to shreds. Cities broke apart and fused with others. People only wanted anything to do with others like them. Others they were compatible with.

That's why when everyone was finally over all the violence, twelve well known representatives came together to discuss the terms of the "New Sector". Those twelve representatives each spoke on behalf of the different star signs: Taurus, Aries, Cancer, Libra, Sagittarius, Scorpio, Aquarius, Capricorn, Leo, Virgo, Pisces, and my own sign, Gemini. They broke off and established each as its own kingdom to avoid clashes between incompatible signs.

As a rule, kings and queens strategically plan the births of their first born children to fall under the kingdom's zodiac sign. That's me: Princess Aurelia, heir to the throne of Gemini. If a daughter of the royal family is born with a different sign, like my sister, they are married off to compatible kingdoms. Lorelei was born a Capricorn and is now the wife of a rich nobleman of Taurus. Everyone was so proud that she found a husband at only age fourteen.

Royal or noble sons of different  signs were sent abroad to attempt to woo ladies or princesses of compatible signs like my father, King Weston, who was originally a nobleman of Aries.

As for my mom, Queen Genevieve, she was like me. Born a Gemini specifically to inherit the throne from her Gemini father and her Aquarius mother. My younger brother, Theodore was also born a Gemini, and will one day become a Lord of Gemini to establish laws with the other noble families and me as his superior.

Then there's me. I was brought up with strict rules, as we Gemini always are. But being a princess is even more strict. I had a schedule as a kid. I was told when to sleep, get up, eat, bathe, use the restroom, go to classes, and so on. I have always been subordinate. If I am told to do something, I do it immediately and to the best of my ability. I am the epitome of what a Gemini citizen should be.

So yes, I was born to be queen. But I'd be an idiot if I were to slack off simply because the role is essentially, already mine.

"Good morning, Princess. How did you sleep?" I sit up in bed at the voice of my lead servant and best friend, Sybil.

"I slept very well!" I say, beaming. I swing my feet over the side of my bed and begin walking over to my vanity, feeling the plush black carpet beneath my toes. Behind me, Sybil sets to work readjusting my black velvet pillows and emerald green comforter to look brand new. I sit back in the seat before my mirror and look over my shoulder at Sybil.

"Guess what." I exclaim with a gleam in my eye. "I had a dream last night."

"Ooh, sounds intriguing what about?" Her mischievous grin tells me she already knows what I'm going to say. It's hard to believe she was so shy when we were younger. She walks over, turns my head back toward the mirror and begins running a brush threw my long, straight, dark brown hair. "Come on! Don't keep me waiting!"

"It was about a particular boy--"

"I knew it!" she squeals before I can finish explaining. "Oops. My apologies, Princess. I didn't mean to cut you off."
