The next morning I woke up in my bed with Lia asleep and cuddled up to me. I got up and shrugged on my robe. I went downstairs and made some eggs and bacon.
I knew she was going to make me tell him about the baby. But I knew I couldn't. He didn't want me, he already had a family. A beautiful wife, and baby girl. I saw a picture of the baby on Lauren's instagram. "I can't believe my brother created the most beautiful creature on earth. Welcome Callie Hastleberry!". She was really gonna flip her shit when she found out he fathered two children. I went up to my room to find Lia still passed out, so I slipped on some jeans, a sweater, my old rain jacket, and my Hunter boots.
I just walked that day. I walked around the garden that was starting to wither in the cold fall. I went and walked along the bank of the lake and the dock. I walked over to the stables to see my Appaloosa horse, Spirit. Lia has a horse, a beautiful Palomino, named Shine. I strapped Spirit up and followed the trail to the beach.
There were some surfers in the distance trying to catch a wave.
We went all down that beach that day, and just watched the tide while I thought over things.
I could've got an abortion, but I knew Lia would never allow that. I don't think I could make myself do that anyway.
Where would we live? Where would it go to school? Who would take care of it while I was working? But the main question was how am I supposed to take care of a child on my own?
Finally, at about midnight I made my way home. I found Lia sitting there drinking wine and reading a book. Cam was on the couch with the girls in his arms fast asleep.
My heart ached a little because I knew it wasn't going to be like that for me. She smiled at me when she saw me and motioned to go upstairs.
