I felt the bed move, and I opened my eyes. He was yanking on his jeans with this phone wedged between his ear and broad shoulder. He was in one of his moods, I could tell. He was the most attractive man I'd ever seen. I was used to sleeping with men, but no one had ever intrigued me more than Ace Hastleberry did. He was built like a Greek god. His sculpted abs, arms, legs, you name it and this guy had it.
I was interrupted from checking him out when he was staring at me during his phone call.
It wasn't how he normally looked at me. No, he looked furious. I silently got up off the bed and shrugged on my silk robe following him into the kitchen. I came up to him from behind and hugged him. He was still on the phone barking and yelling at people. Nothing out of the ordinary. I felt him shrug me off which honestly disappointed me. He'd never rejected my love before. I put a kettle of water on the stove for tea, and was about to get tea bags out of the cupboard until he said those words I was dreading.
"I'm leaving."
I spun around, and looked at him. I mean really looked at him. He had bags under his eyes, and was starting to get a stubble from not shaving. His eyes looked tired and hurt flashed through them. I knew he was going back to her. Back to his fiance in Greece.
"Amelia went into labor. Dad just called. I need to be there. I'm sorry."
Blunt as always. Oh yeah, and I almost forgot to mention, his pregnant fiance.
He was buttoning his dress shirt, and I knew he wasn't coming back. That everything was over.
"Leave."
I sounded unsure at first, but I repeated it for him to know I meant it.
"Ana.."
"No, Ace leave."
Tears began to silently flow down my face. He started walking towards me, but I grabbed my metal mixing bowl off the kitchen counter and threw it at him.
"I SAID LEAVE GODDAMMIT!"
That really made him jump. I was a crying mess by now. He grabbed his bag and I was chasing him out the apartment door to the elevator with my pink pig slippers on with my new weapon, a frying pan. He was pleading and trying to reason with me.
"Ana, I swear I didn't mean for all of this to happen."
"Well it did. Now leave."
I pointed to the elevator just in case he wasn't getting the picture.
"It's just.. you know I don't love her. I'll come back to you. And I know I sound like an asshole... just let me go home and sort everything out, and then I'll be back. Back to you."
I scoffed and crossed my arms over my chest. I suddenly felt ashamed and naked in front of this man for the first time.
"Well maybe I just won't be here when you get back."
He put his hands in his pockets and pushed the down button on the elevator and said, "Well at least know I love you."
"Goodbye Ace, that'll be the last time I say your name."
He got in the elevator and looked me in the eyes while he said, "Goodbye Anastasia."
And with that the elevator door closed and he was gone.
