JUST SWEET!

***

Karen sat on a blanket under a tree in the sunny hot day. She watched as J-Hope walked through the other four, telling them how to improve their attacks and defenses. They were sparring, but Karen had twisted her ankle, so J-Hope ordered her to sit down.

Kevin sent a punch at Susana, but she sidestepped his attack, smacking his head with her palm, shouting, "Didn't your mama teach you not to hit girls?" she scolded.

"You're not a girl!" Kevin sassed back dragon sweeping the grass, tripping Susana.

Kevin laughed mockingly, but J-Hope smacked his head, "Be careful what you say, you may regret it one day," he warned.

By the time Kevin turned around again, Susana was off the ground. She jumped on Kevin, pulling at his hair, "I'm more of a woman than you are a man!" She screeched. She grabbed one of his legs and his shirt, heaving him off of the ground and throwing him on his back. Kevin laid there, eyes open wide as he tried to regain his air.

Demian and Jayden had a more mature fight. They were both silent, but their skill spoke for them. Demian grabbed Jayden by the shoulders and attempted to knee his chest, but Jayden whacked Demian's arms away, sliding to the left, ramming a quick punch into Demian's side. Demain groaned in pain, taking a few steps back to regain his composure. He charged again, fainting a right kick and punching with a left hand, sending Jayden sprawling on the mats. "That's enough for today. Help put the mats back up, take a shower, and come down to eat," J-Hope ordered. He lifted Jayden up to look at his cheekbone that had begun to swell.

"I got the medicine!" Karen shouted running in with her blanket. J-Hope signaled him to follow her as he walked in to cook lunch.

J-Hope sent Jayden, Kevin, and Damien home early that evening. He asked Susana to get some sleep, so he could have some time with Karen. To his surprise, he didn't mind having new people with different stories and ways of expressing themselves around him, but he wanted to spend time with Karen, like in the old days, where it would just be the two of them talking over something bothering them.

"I have a business meeting tonight. Make sure you lock all the doors and turn the alarm on before you go to sleep. Don't sleep late, the last time you stayed up late didn't end well," J-Hope advised as he spammed on his controller.

"Okay," Karen hissed, half listening as she was spamming her own controller, leaning sideways on the sofa as if she could dodge the bullets in the game if she did that.

"Hohohoho!" J-Hope cried jumping up, "We won!" He shouted doing a funny looking victory dance. Karen laughed as she pulled out a camera to record him. Neither of them noticed a set of big green eyes staring at them, inside the house. "All right. I need to run back to my house to change. Go to sleep, so you can train tomorrow, okay?" He reminded, tapping her head twice with his wallet before grabbing his keys. Karen waited until he left before she grabbed the controllers again to play again.

J-Hope flexed his shoulders in anguish as he scoured his house looking for his briefcase, "Where did I put it?" he muttered, clicking his tongue and flattening himself on the ground to look under his bed at the sofas. "I remember preparing it this morning, and I put it...where did I put it?" He wondered, "I went to Karen's house to play games...Karen!" He slipped into his car and sped to her house. He rung the doorbell several times, but nobody came to answer. He pulled his phone out to call, but it went straight to voicemail. "What is she doing?" He cried, "I'm going to be late!" He pulled out his spare key, he had one made since she didn't let him in last time, and slipped into the dark house. He made his way to the sofa and grabbed his briefcase. He turned to walk back out but noticed the dimly lit kitchen through the slightly open door. He jumped a bit when he saw a thin trail of blood leading from the living room to the kitchen. He roughly pushed the door open making the door bounce harshly back in place. He noticed the blotch of blood ended in the middle of the tile floor. He looked around but noticed nothing out of the ordinary. However, he felt a presence that he couldn't see, so he grabbed a glass and poured himself some water.

As he turned the glass bottoms up, someone kicked the door open, "GET OUTTA MY HOUSE!" J-Hope choked on his water as Karen was pointing a shotgun in his face. "Oh, I thought you were an intruder," she remarked, letting the gun fall to her side.

"Seriously?" He asked, "I rung the doorbell several times, and you didn't answer?"

"I may have been playing more games with my headphones on..." she said with hesitation.

"I called you, three times!" he pressed, taking a step towards her.

"You confiscated my phone because I played too many games last time," Karen replied, lips pursed in disapproval.

"Oh, right," he muttered, "My goodness, you're an adult. I shouldn't be disciplining you like this. Get your life straight!" He cried, honestly relieved she wasn't dead.

"Last time I checked you're older than me and you still play games."

"Sweety," he hissed through gritted teeth, "I can control myself. You need to too. Are you listening to me? What are these trails of blood for?!" He asked, turning around to look at what she was staring at.

"That cat is evil," Karen replied. The young black cat from a few weeks ago sat on the windowsill with his eyes closed so that he was camouflaged with the darkness behind him. At that moment he opened his big green eyes and meowed, jumping down and snuggling his body against J-Hope's legs. "So creepy." Karen shuddered, turning around to put her shotgun up. "I was wondering who took my raw meat before I could cook it. She keeps finding a way into the house and sits the corners of the house with his eyes closed and opens them when I turn the lights off so all you see is green glowing eyes staring right at you. Can't you keep him at your house? That cat's going to be the death of me, giving me shocks like that," She called back into the kitchen and she put her gun up.

J-Hope made an ugly face after her. "Let's go, buddy!" He cried, lifting the cat with him, "You're coming to work with me!"

When he got back home and let the black cat explore the house, he felt an aching pain shoot through his system. He grunted as he leaned against the wall.

Flashback: "Stop! You're going to hurt the kitten. Kittens this young are blind," his sister warned her brother as his chubby baby fingers curled gently around the kitten to bring its little paws against his nose. He giggled, but the kitten's mother nudged him, disapprovingly. "Come on, Mom said we're having your favorite for dinner and chocolate for dessert!" his sister cried, pulling his arms away from the litter of kittens as they ran back towards their house.
