Note: Karen is known as the Lazy Warrior because she stands her ground and lets her opponent attack, an attempt to tire her enemy out.
Karen skipped over the vacuuming robot, jumping onto her bed as the robot bounced against her dresser drawer and turned towards her direction again. J-Hope had called her down five minutes ago, but she couldn't run out of the room properly without having the scary robot chasing after her. Seeing the robot run under the bed, she flipped herself upside down, carefully holding onto the bedpost for support as she leaned down to find where the robot had hidden. As she did so, J-Hope burst into the room, "Karen, where are you?!" Karen let out a squeak and flipped off the bed, landing on her back. She immediately jumped up and into J-Hope's arms as the robot followed her again. J-Hope sighed, a bit frustrated as he powered off the robot with his toe.
Karen peered over at the scene with wide eyes, 'it was that easy to turn off?' she wondered. J-Hope dropped her and walked back downstairs. However, curious Karen poked the robot again. She clicked the power button like she had seen J-Hope do, but when it started racing at her again, she screeched and slammed the door shut, hurrying down after J-Hope.
"I need to get you into the Underground Championship, so you need to train and fight at least once a month to be qualified," he commanded.
"Wait, so that means I have to go back in there and fight?" she asked, clearly not enthusiastic.
"If we want to get into the building without being suspicious. Those who don't make it into the championship, have to watch it in the screens broadcasted from other buildings building, and we don't need that. Plus, when you fight someone else, I don't want you getting hurt," he explained. "Firstly, you need to strengthen your thighs because all of your weight and balance is going to depend on your legs. So start with fifty squats," he ordered, grabbing snippers to trim his backyard bushes.
Karen's eyes followed J-Hope as he went from bush to bush. He turned to see her progress, nodding at her encouragingly, but when he turned back, he spotted a striped yellow, black, and orange color garter snake near his hands. He screeched like a girl, stumbling back, tripping over himself and landing on his bum.
Karen burst out laughing at the comical scene, holding her stomach. She had just seen a confident muscular guy freak out over a harmless tiny snake, "Oh, this is priceless!" she wheezed. When she looked back up, J-Hope wasn't the happiest, as he glared warningly at her. Instead of becoming silent, she stumbled back and fell, laughing as she reenacted his shock of the garden snake. J-Hope shook his head disapprovingly as he left her to get back to her workout.
As he was drying his hands inside the house with a towel, he watched Karen doing fifty military pushups. He jumped slightly when he thought he saw the bushes move a bit, but deciding it was just his imagination, his mind took over, to remind himself why she was here. "She's here as a light, to remind me of how much darkness I'm in," he muttered to himself.
"Here, take the skin off of the carrots and chop them. Be careful, don't cut your fingers," He warned, handing her six carrots. Karen took twenty minutes to take the skin off, but by the last one, she had gotten pretty good at it. She brought the carrots to the cutting board. Snatching the silver knife she raised her arm high in the air to slice the carrots. J-Hope jumped and caught her hand, "not exactly how you cut carrots," he smiled with pursed lips. Karen huffed, hoping for the day she could be better than him at something. "Look closely at my fingers," he told her, curling his left hand like he had claws, while his knife was kept low, near the board, hitting his knuckles and quickly chopping the carrots. He did a few slices before handing the blade over to her, for her to try. As she attempted to copy him, J-Hope pressed his hands together, as if praying she wouldn't cut her fingers off. When she finally finished, she had a bright smile on her face, full of accomplishment. J-Hope couldn't help but grin at her happiness. He remembered when he learned to drive a car for the first time, their reactions were similar.
"Again. Faster this time," J-Hope instructed. They were outside in the beautiful weather of a shining sun and a constant breeze. They had laid cushioned mats on the ground and were training. J-Hope shot forward quickly and sent two palms at Karen to push her. She immediately twisted her left hand curving down and her right hand curving up as they met his wrists, pushing them away from her. She then turned her body to the right grasping at his forearm with her right hand. She pulled him closer to her, his ribs brutally meeting with the elbow of her left arm. She then ducked under that same arm so that she was behind him. She pushed down on his shoulder so he fell to his knees. She held the stance for three seconds before letting him stand up.
"How was that?" She asked, the sweat dripping down the side of her face.
"It was okay, but you leave yourself open when you come behind me. You need to keep your balance the entire time." J-Hope criticised, picking up his water bottle to drink.
"Is it okay to be my punching bag? Doesn't it hurt?" She asked worriedly.
"I'm a man..." he muttered back. Karen scoffed with disapproval of his answer. "I got to go to work. Take a rest. There's money on the kitchen counter if you want to go shopping for ingredients," He said, grabbing his keys and walking out the door, leaving Karen. It doesn't feel right. She could easily do the drills without hurting him. Why does he insist on getting beaten up? It was almost as if he wanted to get hurt as if he was paying for something.
Karen cleaned up and locked the doors. She wanted to go for a peaceful walk before showering her sweat off, so she slipped her shoes on. As she tied her shoes, she happened to look through her front door, to see J-Hope running up and ringing the doorbell several times. She stood up and rose both of her eyebrows wonderingly at him. "Open the door. I forgot my wallet!" He shouted. Karen pretended to be shocked, holding up his wallet as she sneered evilly before running further into the house. "Ugh, open the door, Karen!" He shouted, banging on the door. He ran to the back, only to find it locked too. He went back to the front, continuously ringing the bell, yelling fake threats. "Ugh, I'm going to make her do push-ups the next time I see her," he muttered to himself. He turned to look at the plants next to the house. He jumped in shock when he saw a young black cat in the bushes, sniffing the of his wallet. He carefully picked around its paws until he snatched it back in his possession. He looked up at the second floor of the house. Karen had dropped his wallet from the second story and was cackling at his fear of the cat. "Nevermind, she's doing pull-ups," he assured himself as he hurried back to his car.
