"What did you two find?" Shiro asks entering the main room and we all sat in our assigned seats.

"Well those machines weren't always so corrupted. I mean yes they were bad, but back then, the machines were supposed to tire oneself to a breaking point. Which don't get me wrong that's terrible-"

"Ugh, Allura get to the point." Lance whines.

She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, clearly not taking any of Lances shit, she continues. "Well when the castle was corrupted by that crystal, it affected every aspect of the ship, including the simulators. At the time I didn't know it existed so it couldn't be fixed."

"But that's another problem," Pidge starts. "Since we have little information on how it's hooked up to the system and we don't know all the materials, we don't know how to restore it."

"Can't we just leave it there?" I ask twirling my hair. "It isn't hurting anything right?"

Allura furrowed her brows. "Well it isn't doing anything right now to the systems, the only problem with them is that if they were to get into the wrong hands the damage could be detrimental."

"So we need to destroy them." Hunk adds rubbing his chin. "But how exactly are we going to do that?"

"Well first we need to get them out of the system." Pidge pushes up her glasses.

"So unplug them." Lance smirks.

"Lance there is no way a machine that complex just simply needs to be unplugged." I sigh.

"Your totally right Keith how could I be so stupid." He hits his forehead. "Everything is wireless nowadays."

We all groan in unison. "Lord help us all." I hear Pidge mumble.

Allura stands there confused. "Then after that we need to physically destroy it."

Pidge sits up straight and looks at everyone with lit up eyes. "But get this, you guys know how only a diamond can scratch a diamond? Well it's the same concept, the only thing that can destroy those machines is Voltron."

"Alright then let's get on it. Pidge, Hunk, Allura, you guys go prepare the machines for us to destroy. Keith, Lance and I will wait here."

My breath hitches and me and Lance make eye contact. He shrugs and raises an eyebrow at Shiro and the three of them leave.

Why does he want us here? Do I ask?

"Why are we still here Shiro?" Lance says, I'm pretty sure he read my mind.

"Well, just do good out there today you two."

The words were so loaded I thought he might jump me again.

"You two are dismissed." He says more sternly and sits back in his chair and checks diagnostics.

Lance runs over to me and grabs my hand and we exit.

"What the fuck was that?" Lance asks me.

I look back at the closed door and frown. "I wish I knew."

Lance sighs. "He was holding himself back, he wanted to say more." Lance opens his mouth to say something and then closes it.

"What?" I move to face him.

He turns his head. "No, it's nothing."

I let go of his hand and cup his cheeks. "Lance." I warn.

"I'm not going to tell you." He says with a smushed face.

I raise an eyebrow. "Oh?"

He squints his eyes at me. "What are you planning kogane." I shiver at hearing my last name.

I laugh. "I know your ticklish Lance don't let me use this."

His face dropped. "Damn you're convincing, alright I'll tell you." I let go of his cheeks so he can actually speak.

He fidgets so I can tell this is important. "Well I feel like he was going to say something to me, specifically."

"I thought he was okay now though." I put my hand on my chin.

"You can't expect him to immediately get better, I can understand why he would go after me." Lance crosses arms and rubs them. He looked so deep in thought.

"Hey you can't do that to yourself, alright?" I sigh. "I guess it will be a long process."

He sighs in response. "I have a feeling forming Voltron is going to be a struggle."

"I hope not."

-

After a while we all returned to the main deck, waiting directions.

"So are we just going to throw them into space?" I ask, knowing I'd get a rise out of someone, I didn't expect it to be Shiro.

"Lance." He stares at me with his grey eyes.

I shrink back into my chair, and shut my mouth. I can feel Keith's eyes on me but I don't look.

"The machines are in position." Allura states.

Shiro turns to his team. "Alright everyone get to your lions."

Hunk, Pidge, and Shiro head for the zip lines. I head for mine but Keith grabs my arm.

"Are you okay?" He asks with worrying eyes.

"Yea, I'm fine." I flash a fake smile. He smiles back and heads to his lion, and I follow suit.

~

"Alright team, form Voltron!" Shiro yelled.

A few seconds pass. Nothing.

My heart starts to race.

No please no.

"Form Voltron!" Shiro yells once more, but once again, nothing happened. "Why isn't it working?" He asks. I can feel the question directed at me.

"Paladins what's wrong?" Allura says over the coms.

"We can't form Voltron!" Hunk replies.

A long silence falls over everyone.

He's going to blame me. He's going to blame me.

My hands start to shake.

Shiro grunts out of frustration. "Lets go back and regroup."

~

It takes me a whole minute to duke myself up to get out my lion. Blue tried to reassure me that it wasn't my fault, but I didn't believe her.

Slowly I exit my lion and the other four are standing there.

"Any idea why we could form?" I ask. Trying to hide the shakiness in my voice. I see Keith move closer to me.

"Shiro you're the head do you know?"

Shiro looked up at Lance. " I might have an idea. I look at the floor.

Shiro sighed. "Look Lance I know I shut you down earlier, but I didn't think it would get to you, I just wanted you to pay attention."

"Oh so you're blaming this on Lance." Keith raises his voice. "Look Shiro I know it's really hard for you right now, but that doesn't mean you can be a dick and get away with it."

"Keith I didn't-"

"No." Keith puts his hand up. "Just don't, we will have to talk about this later but for now, don't."

Keith grabs my hand sternly and leads me out of the hangar. I feel tears start form.
