KARKAT: Soon the hospital is shooing out all the visitors. They make sure Kankri is okay to leave amd doesn't have to stay over night before shooing their group out. Karkat drives back to their dads house with Kankri to clean it with him he stops by a shelf while cleaning. He grabs a picture frame. A family photo. A complete one. He's a todler, their mother holding him. Kankri is old enough to stand on his own, their dads hand on his shoulder. Karkat picks up a photo next to it. In this one he's about nine or ten, kankri being 13 or 14. He remembers it vaguely. "Hey, Kankri. Come here. Do you remember this?"
Flashback noises
Karkat is scowling at their mother who insists on taking a picture of him and Kankri together. Hugging. How dare she, he immediately pushes Kankri aside when she is done taking the photo. Their dad chuckling in the other room while their mom frowns a bit and furrows her brows. "Oh come on, how hard is it to pose with your brother?"23:28:14

:[color=red] "That was the day mom died, sometimes I wondered if she knew she would go with how perfect she wanted that day to go." he remarked as he looked over the photo a sullen sigh leaving him.

"Boys will be boys, and you know they compete to be your favorite dear." Sean, their father remarked as he came back into the room will a smile. Wrapping his arms her waist. "An' hate to tell you boys but her her favorite Vantas is right here." He said.

KARKAT: Karkat crosses his arms and pouts a bit. "You're being gross." Their mother, Diane, just snorts a laugh and puts a hand on his chest, her curls bounce casually when she laughs. "Oh please. Don't get ahead of yourself." She glances him up and down. "You better get ready. Today is a special day you know." Karkat looks up at her confused. What's so special about today anyway?

: Oh god was his memory terrible. "And today is special because?" he drew out the because with a cheesy 'please don't be mad' kind of smile. Kankri chuckle at the look he go from Diane. "Dad I don't think the smile is working you can drop it."
"No, no son this is the key. Just a little while longer and your mother will resist the urge to call me an asshat."

KARKAT: She rolled her eyes and purses her lips before shoving him off. "Oh what, is it too much trouble for you to remember our very own anniversary now? Have we reached that milestone Sean?" Karkat was still a bit confused but looks to Kankri. "Dad's in trouble." Their mother sighs. "We agreed to take the kids out because our anniversary is more like one of us starting this family in the first place." She takes Sean's hand with a soft smile. "It's the anniversary of when you settled down. When we decided a family would be better than running around....doing lord knows what all the time." She pulls him into another hug, still holding his hand.

: He sighed, how could he forget. "Right now I remember. Sorry for forgetting so easy." He apologized as he hugged her. Letting her go when she pushed him to go get dressed. Coming out in a tux he barely wore as she ushered everyone out to the car and out to dinner. That taking place at the kid's favorite restaurant of Texas Roadhouse. "Well now I just feel every sort of overdressed." Though that was his only complaint and while they waited for a table he went straight to the crane game and spent three dollars to come back with the boys clutch onto their very own stuffed pets, Karkat a small red and reflective purple crab, and Kankri a giraffe with glasses while Sean carried one. Tapping Diane on the shoulder with smile as he handed her a stuffed lion. He always had a knack for those games.

KARKAT: Diane snorts a laugh at him and realizes something. "Oh! My purse is still in the car." She takes the lion and starts walking out."Go ahead and get a table, I just need to grab my purse and I'll be right back inside okay?" She kisses his cheek and walks outside. Karkat has his arms tight around the crab while he watches their mom walk out the door. Already feeling a bit more nervous when she does. The feeling of the air felt off to him but how would he know that it's not supposed to feel weird.
