JENNIE

IT was school time again. i found myself thinking of jisoo in the history class. i was smiling like an idiot and probably should stop thinking about her since i'm gonna meet her today anyways.

i was glad to have made friends with lisa and chaeyoung. they were probably the only nice people here. we also made plans to go shopping. it wasn't really my thing but i figured that i can't stay at home all time and i also really need new clothes.

"so students for the first assignment of this year, i'll be pairing you up with another student." the english teacher declares as the students groan.

he starts pairing the students up and when he comes to me, he stops and thinks for a while. he looks over to a tall girl with dark hair at the other end of the class room.

"jennie you'll be partners with sooyoung."

uh oh. i recognise the girl. i've seen her before, she's a part of red velvet. i start cursing my luck. i'll probably get beat up again today. she walks towards me. "i-i'll do my part of the assignment and your part too. please don't hit me."

"don't worry, i won't." wait what? i thought she was one of them. she sees the confused look on my face. "i may be a part of red velvet but i'm not like them. i don't like to bully people." she says in a dull tone with almost no expressions on her face.

she tears a piece of paper from her book and scribbles something on it. "here's my number, i'll text you my address so that we can meet up for the assignment." she hands the paper to me.

"also don't let the others know that we're partners." she scurries off to her next class.

i think i know very well whom she meant when she said the others. she doesn't want red velvet knowing that we're partners.

i don't know why she's so scared of them. she could just leave. it's weird, she wears a cold expression while talking to me but also doesn't want to beat the crap out of me.

i look at my watch, it's almost time for me to meet jisoo. i wait for her near the place where we met.

while waiting for her i decide to scroll thorough my phone. "hey." jisoo's face pops up in front of me. "holy fuck-" i let out a scared scream almost dropping my phone.

that girl just showed up out of nowhere.

she throws back her head and starts laughing. "i'm sorry did i scare you?" she asks still laughing.

"hell yeah you did." she continues to laugh. "hey come on it wasn't that funny." i pout playfully hitting her on the arm.

"let's go." she grabs my arm and pulls me causing butterflies to erupt in my stomach.

"so how's life?" jisoo asks jennie on their way to the park.

"nothing much. this school is way better than i thought. i made a few friends too."

"that's nice."

"hey we're both seniors but how come i never see you in the cafeteria during lunch time." i tired searching for her today but gave up after 10 minutes of not being able to spot her.

"usually i just spend lunch time in the library reading stuff. i hate talking to people." she answers.

"ah i can totally relate but lisa and chaeyoung make lunch time tolerable."

"they're really nice. lisa and chaeyoung i mean." her eyes start watering which doesn't go unnoticed by me.

"hey is something wrong? why are you crying?" i ask.

"it's just allergies." jisoo quickly wipes her eyes. "anyways we're here!" she points to the park.

i had to admit that it was one of best sights ever. cherry blossoms were blooming and it was the perfect spot for a date.

the rest of the day was perfection for me. after spending some more time with jisoo, i got to know the girl more. she wasn't a cold emotionless bitch. in fact she was funny, quirky, weird at times but that's what i liked best about her.

"hey i realised that i don't have your phone number. what is it?" i asked jisoo as we sat on one of the park benches.

"the thing is my phone broke and right now i'm phoneless." she answered. i contemplated if she should believe her or not. there were just so many things that seemed not right about her.

finally i convinced herself to give jisoo another chance. "that's fine. let me know when it fixed."

"sure."

after a while it was time for them to head home. "i'll see you tomorrow." jisoo said with a smile.

"yeah sure." i began to leave when jisoo gave me a peck on the cheeks as if it was no big deal.

my face started turning a deep shade of pink from jisoo's unexpected action.

"oh and jennie, if i were you i would be careful about who i befriend." she left quickly before j had the opportunity to ask her what the statement meant.

i should be studying for my exam tomorrow but here i am writing another chapter.

i really hope you're liking the book so far.
