The next morning, I woke up feeling kind of lightheaded and very nauseous. Quickly, I made my way to the bathroom and emptied out my stomach. After a few deep breaths I sighed and flushed the toilet, I stood and checked the cabinet for some Tylenol but there wasn't any.
Groaning, I walked back into my room and noticed that Shayne was still asleep. It was Saturday and I didn't have to work and for that I was grateful because I felt like a bitch right now. I got dressed in a t-shirt and sweatpants, and made my way downstairs where I saw Alice and Jace in the kitchen preparing breakfast."Good morning, D. Want some breakfast?" Alice asked with a wide smile on her face. Jace smirked to himself and began cracking eggs into a bowl. Bacon was frying in the pan and Alice flipped each strip one by one. My face wrinkled in disgust, just the smell of bacon was beginning to make my stomach turn. I loved bacon, but I didn't like it today.
"I'm just going to grab coffee and some Tylenol. I'll see you guys later." I said turning to get my keys off the table and made my way out to my car. Just as I opened my garage, I suddenly had this feeling that I was being watched. I noticed movement from the corner of my eye and turned around just in time to see a black truck turning the corner and disappearing.
Get it together Dakota. I thought as I pulled open the door to my car and got inside. Starting the car, I pulled out of the garage and onto the main road. After stopping to get my coffee from Starbucks, I finally arrived at the grocery store.
I walked into the store and headed straight to the medicine aisle. Scanning through the shelves I finally spotted the bottle of Tylenol. Grabbing it, I made my way to the checkout line and paid for my items. I thanked the cashier and walked out of the building only to be stopped in my tracks. Standing next to my car and in front of a black truck is Zach. What the fuck!
I took a deep breath and walked towards my car intending to ignore him entirely.
"Come on Dakota, talk to me! I love you and I know you love me!" Zach argued standing next to me now.
"I don't love you anymore Zach! What part of that do you not understand! I'm in a relationship with someone else and I love him. Get it through your fucking head already! WE ARE NEVER GETTING TOGETHER AGAIN!" I yelled at him and opened my car door only for him to slam it shut, grabbing my wrist and squeezing tightly. I glared at him and ignored the pounding of my heart. His face morphed into one of anger.
"If you don't want me calling the police or sending you to a hospital, I suggest you let me go and leave me alone. We are never getting back together, do you understand." I growled.
Zach took a threatening step towards me and I refused to move, meeting his hard gaze head on. I'm not scared of him and I won't let him get to me.
"You're gonna regret this." Zach sneered.
"The only thing I regret is meeting you!" I growled. Zach let go of my wrist and glared at me one last time before walking away to his truck, getting in and speeding off down the road. I let out a deep breath and got in my car. Running my hands through my hair, I took two Tylenol and made my way home. Pulling into my garage, I parked my car and turned off the engine but I didn't get out of my car.
Now I have another problem to deal with on top of the problems I already have.
Getting out of my car, I walked into my house where Shayne, Jace and Alice were in the kitchen eating. Shayne got up and walked towards me. He kissed me and stared down at me, concern suddenly etched onto his face.
"What's the matter?" Shayne asked.
"Nothing. I'm going to go take a shower and I'll be right back." I kissed his cheek and walked upstairs to my room. I didn't give him time to ask any more questions as I made my way upstairs and straight into my room. Heading to the bathroom I filled up the bathtub and began to strip. Stepping into the hot water, I let my body sink and tried to relax but relaxing didn't come easy.
Did he follow me from Minnesota? What is he thinking will happen between me and him? More importantly why is this bothering me so much?
Question after question after question just popped into my head. Groaning, I scrubbed myself clean and got out of the tub. I got dressed and walked into my bedroom where I saw Shayne sitting on the bed.
"There is something going on with you and I want to know what it is." I sighed and walked towards the bed. Sitting down next to him, I turned to face him. "I saw Zach again today when I went to the store and it was the same thing, begging for me to come back to him and I said no. He grabbed me and stopped me from getting into my car and told me I would regret it."
"Is that also where the bruise came from?" Shayne asked grabbing my arm and rubbing the dark bruise on my wrist. I could see him visibly shaking and decided to tell him the truth because there was no point in trying to hide the evidence that's staring us both in the face.
"Yes." I whispered.
"I'm gonna kill him!" Shayne growled standing up from the bed and walking towards the door. I followed behind him and grabbed his arm forcing him to stop. Wrapping my arms around his waist, I hugged him tightly. "Please don't. I don't want you getting involved in whatever it is Zach has going on." Glancing up into his eyes I said, "I don't want you to get hurt or worse because of him. Please don't." Closing his eyes for just a moment, Shayne took a deep breath and held me closer to him.
We stood in the hallway holding each other for a few minutes before Alice walked up the stairs and froze for a moment. "So, Jace and I were gonna watch a movie and we wanted you guys to join us."
"Alice-" I started but Alice cut me off.
"I'm not taking no for an answer so both of you get your asses together and come downstairs. If you're not down theses stairs in two minutes I'm coming back up here and dragging you both down by your balls! Let's go bitches, clock is ticking!" Alice yelled as she walked down the stairs.
I couldn't stop the smile from spreading across my face. Shayne grabbed my hand in his and we walked down the stairs into the living room. For the past few hours, we watched a couple movies and ate snacks. Of course, I couldn't really enjoy too many snacks because every ten to fifteen minutes I had to throw up my guts. The last trip I made to the bathroom, Alice came with me.
Sitting on the bathroom floor, I took a deep breath and stared at her while Alice stared at me.
"Do you have something to take for sickness?" Alice asked, concern etched all over her face.
"Yeah, there's some Tylenol in my bag. Could you get it for me please." Alice nodded and disappeared out the door. After a minute or two Alice returned with Tylenol and a small pink and white box. I stood up and walked towards her. In her hand was a bottle of pills and a pregnancy test.
"No way!" Alice whispered.
