Weekends always allowed Thomas and Rosanna to sleep in a little longer. The four-year old could sleep through anything, but she would be cranky if you woke her. Tired eyed, Thomas rolled over in to his other side and checked the time.

8:30am, the clock read. Thomas stumbled out of bed, pulling the hood on his jumper over his head. Unwillingly, he opened the door to Rosanna's room and crouched down next to her bed, watching in her in awe as she slept. Thomas absoloutley dreaded having to wake her up.

"Rose," he spoke quietley, shaking her shoulders. "C'mon, love, you need to wake up."

"Go away, daddy," Rosanna mumbled quietley, obviously still half asleep.

"Auntie Teresa is coming today, remember? So, you need to get up," he enticed her.

"Five more minutes?" She begged.

Thomas let out a sigh, "okay, five more minutes. I'm making eggs for breakfast. I'll call you through when they're ready."

He pushed himself up from the crouching position he was in before walking through to the kitchen. Thomas whipped up a quick breakfast of scrambled eggs for the both of them and a coffee for himself.

There wasn't much food in the cupboards so Thomas would have to go to the supermarket. Pay day had been so he had enough money for the time being. The worst thing was, Thomas had to keep a schedule to keep track of when bills were due and how much they would cost. Then, he kept aside money for food shopping, some for emergency, a small amount to buy something for Rose here and there...the list goes on.

"Rose!" Thomas yelled for his daughter who came sprinting down the hallway and into the kitchen. She jumped into her father's arms before he could say 'oh my God' and nearly sent him flying backwards. "Glad to see you're awake."

Rosanna giggled at Thomas's sarcasm, the blue in her eyes lighting up. Thomas felt a sudden pang of sadness, remembering...

That was all in the past. It didn't matter. Not anymore.

"Sit down, love, and have some breakfast," he said, trying not to let the despair dominate his voice. Thomas put her down and she climbed on to the small, wooden chair.

"When is Auntie Teresa getting here?" Rosanna questioned.

"Soon-" Thomas was interupted by a knock at the door. "That should be her now."

Rose was already off of her chair and running towards the front door, giggling; "open the door, daddy, open it!"

Thomas adored her daughter's enthusiasm. He stuck the key in the door and twisted it, waiting for the click  sound. Rosanna was bouncing with excitement, hardly containing herself. When the door finally opened, Teresa stood there with a massive smile on her face. The four-year old was the first to get a hug, being lifted into her Aunt's arms and being squeezed half to death.

"I've missed you so much" Teresa said. "How's my one and only favourite niece?"

"I missed you so much, Auntie Teresa!" Rose giggled as she was put back on the ground.

"Don't wait around, come in," Thomas invited his sister into the apartment.

"I missed you as well, big brother," Teresa said as she embraced Thomas in a hug, standing on her toes to bury her face in his neck. When they pulled away, she took off her jacket and shoes and sat them aside. "How have you been?"

Thomas closed the front door while he replied, "I've been fine." He turned his attention to Rosanna; "go into the living room and watch some TV or play with your toys. I'm going to make Auntie Teresa a coffee, then we'll come through."
