~I apologise for not updating in over a week but I've been very busy with school and I work during the week as well as weekends so I don't have a lot of time on my hands right now. I've also been binge listening to Trench. Twenty One Pilots have done an incredible job with their new album and I'm falling in love with it.
*TIME SKIP TO MARCH*
Spring was a joyous season. The grass grew back from underneath the snow and the sun brought heat into Denver once more. Thomas replaced the fifteen tog duvets with ones much lighter and turned off the central heating in the house.
Rosanna was five years old and it was almost time for her to start elementary school. The slight bullying she had been receiving died down into nothing. It wasn't worth the fight and drama and dirty looks. She didn't understand why people thought that Thomas and Newt were 'disgusting' and 'a disgrace to society', but she learned to ignore it.
Newt was preparing for his final exams. He would be graduating in June which was only three months away. He spent his days off studying and only showing up at The Homestead when he had time. Thomas missed his company. It was obvious to Minho because he looked as though he was always sulking at work. He wasn't himself without the blonde.
However, when they were together, Newt was grumpy from the lack of sleep he had been getting. It frustrated him which made him angry, and when he was angry he lost control of his magic. He broke things, shattered them, blew them out of existence, but none of his coping mechanisms calmed him down.
He feared he was turning into Gally.
That was another thing; Gally was still spying on both him and Thomas. He pretended as though he didn't know and in return the stern witch kept quiet about Rosanna.
Newt was worried that Thomas would somehow find out about his supernatural abilities. Many times he had excused himself to the bathroom because he could feel is magic bubbling inside him, ready to explode and destroy something. His hands ached, trying to stay in control. He focused on the brunette's soft breezes on his hair and his arms gripping his tight from behind when they cuddled.
He would have said among other things if they had taken that step. Neither of them had that conversation and, although they were both dying to, they didn't want to make things awkward. Whenever they got close to proceeding with that act, Newt had to restrain himself because he knew he'd lose full control come climax. He could feel the firepower churning inside him when they started to remove their clothing.
He didn't want to ruin what they had.
He didn't want to ruin Thomas.
The brunette suspected something was wrong. He observed Newt, how he pulled away and refrained when things got too intense. When they were down to almost nothing he would shake his head, lay down and turn his body away in shame. When Thomas went to hug him from behind, Newt's whole body felt as though it was on fire, and he could sometimes hear the tiniest of whimpers escape from his mouth.
He never asked what was wrong because he wasn't sure if he actually wanted to know. Was it his fault? Was he not attractive enough? Did Newt not lust him as he did his previous scandalous partners?
Newt had opened up to Thomas about his past; about how his habits of drinking and smoking started; about how he slept around with other people but never felt any kind of love towards them; about how Sonya lead him down a path of self-righteousness and redemption.
"Why, when we're getting somewhere, do you stop? Is there something wrong with me?"
"What?" Newt asked, shocked that those words came out of Thomas' mouth.
