Dhahabu's POV...
"Shit! " I cursed as I fell off my bed, my whole body tangled in my sheets and duvet. I tried to get myself untangled which proved to be a bitch in itself and I doubted I'd make it to the library in time, seeing as I was already thirty minutes late.
Releasing a sigh of relief after I had managed the herculean task of getting my beddings off me, I rushed to the bathroom and managed to make it with ten minutes to spare.
My hair was a tangled curly mess, not that I had time to make it look presentable, considering it was as thick as the Amazon forest.
I quickly put on a black tank top, a pair of grey sweats, and my only other pair of sneakers (my white Adidas with black stripes). I then grabbed my laptop backpack and ran out of my small apartment.
Breakfast would be sorted later.Since I didn't live far from campus, it was only a short run of ten minutes. It also helped that the library was the first building on campus so it was an even shorter run.
I bumped into a couple of students who were leaving the library and I mumbled a sorry as I quickly brushed past them and entered the library, out of breath.
Mrs. Wheeler, the librarian turned towards me and glared at me but I could honestly care less about her icy scary glare that always sent shivers down my spine.
"Sorry, Mrs. Wheeler. " I told the grumpy old English woman and smiled tightly at her before passing her and making my way to where I knew my best friend was probably waiting to kill me.A couple of students were scattered all over the huge state-of-the-art library. Our school library was considered the best in the whole country and one of the best in Europe, if not the whole world.
However, every time I was there I always felt scary weird, like one of those mysterious haunted castles that held deadly secrets. And although I was curious to see what secrets it held, I also loved my life. If it had secrets there's a reason why they are still secrets. Besides, archeologists are there for that reason. And last I checked I was doing diplomacy and international relations. My best friend was easy to spot. Not only because of the fact that she was sitting in our usual spot, but she was also the only one murdering me with her eyes and plotting ways to hide the evidence and her crime.
Elise Mbula or Liz as she liked being referred to most times( and by most I mean all the time. She hated her Elise name and only allowed her mum and grandparents to call her that) had been my best friend since the first day I joined their highschool. We instantly clicked and had been inseparable ever since even though we had been met by some tough obstacles.
I was the one who came up with the idea to learn German so we could get scholarships to come here. And the icing on the cake was the fact that we also wanted to pursue the same career.
We didn't live together as she had gotten lucky to get a room in one of the hostels on campus and I had missed. But seeing as it was only the first semester, we decided that we would look for a bigger apartment off-campus and move in together seeing as the apartment I lived in was super small. In fact, I had gotten lucky with that one.
She stood up, her hands on her hips in akimbo as she glared at my approaching figure. She was slightly taller than me, her being five-seven in height while I was a proud five-five. Her hair was also longer but she had plaited her hair in medium length medium size braids that she had tied up into a neat bun. She had never been a huge fan of makeup. Her face was clear apart from her minty lip balm.
At times people said we were sisters cause we looked alike, probably cause we had stayed together for long, however, we differed in many ways.
While she had large double ds, I had small perky breasts. I was however more curvy downstairs, being blessed with hips and an averagely huge ass, she had thick thighs and a slightly flat ass. Our facial features also varied, whereas she had huge doe-like eyes, I had big slightly slanted eyes that.
However, we didn't only differ physically but also personality-wise.
She had a more Bohemian sense of lifestyle while I was more of a mixture of all kinds of lifestyle. I was the crazy one between the two of us, and I had always thought I was a bad influence on her because I made her stray from her goody-two-shoes personality but at the same time thought I was making her have an adventurous spirit to experience what life had to offer when we had the chance.
Let's not forget she was also a sucker for love and romance while I didn't believe love existed, instead believed in understanding one another and tolerance to make any relationship work.
