Dee's POV....

The plan was set in motion during the pre wedding dinner. Since the women were going for the hen party for Cara almost everyone female in the house. My sister and best friends were set to arrive that night so I made an excuse to stay behind and welcome them.
Marcus had managed to convince  Stephen to have his bachelor party outside the house and every guy joined the party and also left. The older women decided to go out on their own, not wanting to invade on the younger generations party which left me all alone with a guard in the house.

Playing along with Alex who acted that he didn't want to leave me alone was easy peasy, except for Alex's mum and aunties and Lessa and her cousins who had tried to convince me to join them stating that I could leave as soon as the guards let me know that my guests had arrived. I played the culture card that it was unheard of for the person who invited them to not receive his or her guests and finally they caved. Ruby however said she would come back at around eleven just to make sure all was okay, meaning I had a hour top to down my search.
As soon as ten clocked in everyone vacated the house. Alex had given me the keys to every room for me to conduct my search just in case they were locked.
After making sure that all the doors were closed and no one else was in the house with me because you can never be too careful, and that the kids were sound asleep, I began my search. Since I had been here for a some days, i was familiar with the hallways and the rooms. And it being a two storey house made my work even easier.
I started with Miranda's room as it was the one with the documents. I found the envelope piled up with two others under the mattress. I decided that it was safer if I took photos of the documents instead of taking the documents with me. This was because she might check and if she found them missing then it would alert them and therefore spoil our plan. Taking the documents from each envelope at a time, i was shocked by what the contents entailed.
The first two envelopes were all unsigned documents that required Cara to not only sign off half of her share to Stephen but gave him equal rights to make decisions in regards to anything she was involved in career wise and in terms of the properties the Rodriguez's owned.
The last envelope was what both shocked and excited me. It seemed that someone had managed to get photo evidence of Miranda and Stephen having sex. And what shocked me even more was that the photos, which were about forty, seemed to have been captured from different locations, and had dates at the bottom of the pictures. The dates went back as far as a year ago. Why Stephen would have thought it better to let Miranda keep them instead of hiding them himself was a mystery to me. Unless of course the photos had been delivered while they were either in the island or en route to the Island.
After making sure that i had taken all that i needed, and having returned everything back to the way they were, I left the room.
I was about to walk back when my gut dragged me to Stephen's room. I didn't know what I would find in his and Cara's room but I had a feeling that there would be more.
True to my gut, a briefcase in the walk in closet contained the documents that had all the information concerning Marcus's family estate. It seems that Marcus had been right and in fact Stephen had been the one to hurt his family. However, from the documents and pictures, i hadn't known that Marcus's family had been killed in a suppose accident and that in fact, Stephen was the perp. Why again Stephen would be as careless as to carry such documents with him was beyond me. But again, when you think about it, he may have felt it was better if he had them close to him than stacked in a safe somewhere where the likelihood of them being traced was easier. He was literally hiding them under his enemies noses.
Alex's suspicion that Stephen was the only who planned his father's and uncles deaths was also confirmed. This was definitely going to blast whatever plan stephen had in his face.  After taking photos of all the evidence, i put everything back to how they were and left the room like it was before.
I was just walking down the hall to my room when i heard Ruby call my name downstairs. Thanking my lucky stars for saving me just in time, i sighed and replied shouting "coming" before heading towards the kitchen where i was sure Ruby was.
True to my intuition, she was there making a cup of tea for the both of us, and I joined her, sitting on one of the stools as I listened to her drone out on how the party was, half of my mind on what was to happen the following day.

Hopefully, i would be able to save the Rodriguez family from yet another disaster and help Marcus find peace and exert his well deserved revenge.

Stephen had no idea what was coming to him. And i sure as hell couldn't wait to kill his plans, wiping that smug look on his face. I could already picture it. With a smile of my own and giving myself a silent pat on the back for a job well done, i tuned into what Ruby was telling me.

"Oh! Alex told me to tell you that due to turbulence in London, the flights at Heathrow Airport are going to be delayed. So your friends and sister are going to have to land tomorrow in the morning. I just hope that they won't be too tired to attend the wedding." She said apologetic.
"Its fine. I'll talk to them before i sleep. Though am sure they will be thrilled for the party and probably sleep afterwards."
"I know you would have wished they were here earlier. It would be nice to have some familiar faces around you. Especially now with you being pregnant."
"True. But I've enjoyed getting to know you and your company. I already fill like you are family so its not that big of a deal. Besides, I talk to my family and friends everyday. Sure its not the same as them being here physically but I'll have to take what I can for now. Besides, they eventually would have come." I told her with a genuine smile, meaning everything I said especially about them feeling like family to me. And not a day goes by that I don't thank God that I got lucky to be knocked up by a man with such an incredible family. And that I happened to love him just as much as he did me. I wouldn't have asked for anything more for my children.
"That means so much to me Bonita. And if it any consolation, you feel like family to me too. In fact you are like a daughter to me. Now if only my son could stop being such an idiot and ask you to marry him already so you can officially become my daughter." She said and the last comment took me by surprise that I ended up choking on the sip of tea I had taken.
"Oh my child!" She exclaimed as she rushed to me and started patting my back to help ease the coughing.
"Am okay, Ruby. Your comment just shocked me a little." I said after I had calmed down.
"Am sorry my dear. I know I can be  a bit straight forward. It takes some getting used to." She explained with an apologetic smile.
"No neee to apologize. Trust me am used to it from my family and Zoe and Zack. I see now where they get it from." I said lightly.
"It had taken my husband, God rest his soul in eternal peace, years to get used to it. In fact I used to think I embarrassed him in public because of it but he assured me that he could care less what others thought and that he found it refreshing how honest i was. And then we had children and they took had this trait." She finished with a laugh and melancholic look in her eyes as she thought about her husband. A man she loved so much but had been taken away from her prematurely because of greed. If i hadn't been determined to take Stephen down before, i was then for causing such grief on a wonderful family like this one.

"However, that won't change my mind about you and Alex getting married. I would prefer it to happen before the babies are born if I would have my way." She said cutting off my inner rambling.
"Alex and I are taking things slow so that we can have a good foundation for our future. There are too many people involved in our relationship and any small mistake could hurt all the children."
"And i have no doubt that thats what your intentions are. However, life is too short and mistakes are there to be made so we learn from them. Do you think me and Alex's father were perfect and had a perfect foundation? We made mistakes everyday but we had each other to tackle each problem as they came. All you need is love. And as far as anyone can see, you two already have that accomplished. Don't let fear of the unknown rule your lives." She said wisely and with that bid me goodnight, leaving me to my thoughts.
And for the first time, my doubts about what Alex and me had were squished. For the first time i felt i could take on what was thrown my way. Because i knew he would always be there to have my back. Our future never looked brighter. But first we had a wedding to stop and an enemy to make pay for his crimes.
