Both Arthur and Merlin were in the royal's room; Merlin bent over, cleaning, while Arthur sat princely on his posh bed for utter ponces.

" So, Merlin, " Arthur drawled. " I'm firing you. "

Merlin didn't understand. He may be the greatest warlock to ever walk the earth, but that doesn't mean his brain was up to date.

" Finally! I'll get a day off, " Merlin joked.

" No, seriously... I'm firing you. "

Merlin, hands soaked in mop water, put his hands on the bucket and turned to look at Arthur, only to discover he actually looked serious. For once.

Merlin sighed. " Okay, but why? "

At this point, Merlin knew Arthur would never realize his soulmate wasn't just an old, magical man who used him to climb a horse. Rather, he was the incredibly youthful, loyal servant in front of him. His chances, he believed, were none. It was illegal anyways.

" There's this girl, and she's absolutely stunning. She's brilliant and beautiful, beautifully-brilliant and brilliantly-beautiful... "

" That's coming from you, so... "

" Shut up Merlin! Anyways, I plan to woo her after making her my manservant. Or womanservant. Whatever. "

Thinking it was a god-awful plan, Merlin didn't say a word. He wanted to see this play out. He doubted Arthur's plan would work anyway.  " Okay, sire. " Then, his face contorted into an evil grin. " I'll leave her to do the stables, then, " As he shut the door behind him.

" No Merlin, wai- "

Merlin sprinted as fast as he could go, and didn't see Arthur all day.
