I saw a little girl today
She looked just like myself
She was short
With big brown eyes
That could make your heart melt
Curly pigtails
Missing her two front teeth
She looked like so innocent
Similar to what I used to be
Her eyes were filled with hope
Scars marked her knees
She looked so full of life
Her little fingers sticky
I walked past her in the park
While she held her
Mother's hand
She jumped over each puddle
Which her mother
Couldn't stand
She smiled and waved
Her careless heart
So at ease
I waved back and silently prayed
That she wouldn't
End up like me
