I sighed as I looked towards the lacrosse field. Stiles didn't call me since that night my ass was literally frozen off by those demonic ninjas. No text to make sure I was ok. I felt the small tether from Scott erupting my body. It grew stronger as he occupied the seat next to me.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him.
"I just wanted to see how you were doing," he admitted. "I didn't get the chance to ask."
I shrugged my shoulders. "I feel fine."
Scott furrowed his eyebrows. "Are you sure? Because I felt cold...scared actually."
"Must be that bondage."
"It is. That's how I know that you're not ok."
"Well, what do you want me to say, Scott? That I've felt defenseless. That I never felt that much...coldness in my life. It was like my body got dropped in ice, no offense."
"And you wanted Stiles there?"
I slowly nodded. "Yeah, but he's busy." I scrunched my nose up. "And I hate that I sounded like those girls who depend on their boyfriend for anything."
"Hey, this is the first time that you had someone else other than Derek. You have friends that worry about you...you're just not use to it." There's a first time for everything, I guess. "Hey." I slowly looked at him. "Pack or not - True Mates or not - I'll always make sure nothing happens to you."
A small smile came towards my face as I leaned my head on his shoulder. "Thanks, Scotty Boy." We sat in comfortable silence. I don't really mind it. I didn't even mind when his arm went around my shoulders. "So, what did you find out about our little ninja turtles?"
"Argent says that they've come out at night. He's doesn't know what these things are, but he knows someone who does. And until we have enough to go on, Ethan and Aiden decided to be my bodyguards." He let out an annoyed breath. "All day. All night."
I lifted my head up and looked around the field. "Are they here now?"
Scott shook his head. "No, I've lost them after I've talked to Stiles. He was telling me that he had the key that let Barrow in the chemistry classroom. That he wrote the message to kill Kira."
"The key he found?" I asked.
"You've seen it?"
I nodded. "Yeah. It had some kind of phosphor on it. He ran off and said he'd be back." Then I shook my head vigorously. "You don't think Stiles wanted to kill Kira?"
"No. Stiles isn't a killer. But he said the writing on the board was his and that he had the key. The bomb that Barrow was going to use is just like the prank Stiles did on Coach. When he tried to show me, everything on the board and the key was gone."
Shit. And I've noticed that Stiles' looking more tired each passing day. I got up from my spot. "I need to check on him."
"Ok, but I didn't tell him what happened. He looked like he was going out of his mind, I didn't want to worry him."
I nodded. "Ok, I'll see you later." I went to hug Scott, but it ended up me giving him a quick peck on the cheek.
I grabbed my bag and jogged down the bleachers and made my way through the school, but I froze in place. Did I just kiss Scott? Nah, it was totally innocent. Besides he likes Kira and I'm with Stiles. I shook my thoughts away and pushed past people. Stiles was by his locker and I approached him. He seemed a bit out of it.
"Hey," I greeted him.
Stiles jumped a bit before looking at me. "Mina, sorry, I didn't see you there."
