Inbetween days - The cure

I'm eating breakfast when my phone lights up. It's a text from the director.

Andy: Meet us at Balmy Beaches in 1 hour.

The sun is shining and I fricking love the beach, this is so perfect.
I practically jump out of my seat and run to get ready. I pick out my best bikini and put it on underneath my clothes.

I rush around making sure I get all my stuff ready. An hour is definitely not enough! I still have to do my hair, shave my legs, pack my bag, the list is endless.
When I'm finally ready I ask my mum for a ride there and jump in the car. We sit there in complete silence until she turns on the radio. All I can do is stare out the window and think, I'm way too nervous to talk.

So many thoughts are running through my mind, I can't stop thinking about what jack said, was he saying that Finn liked me or was it a joke? Who knows! All I know is that nothing can happen with me and Finn today, it'll hurt Jaeden too much.
Ugh how am I meant to resist him though? That smile, that laugh, to me he is perfect and nothing compares.

"Excited?" My mum asks, interrupting my thoughts.
"Nope, not at all." I lie, she raises her eyebrows at me. "Fine, maybe a little."
"Look, Y/N, I know you still like him, but you have a boyfriend."
"I know, I know, and it doesn't matter how I feel, this is just about acting." I reply cooly, even though I feel the heat rising to my cheeks. This "date" is definitely not just about acting to me, my feelings are way too real.

When we finally get to the beach I see him waiting there with Andy. It's such a beautiful day, and the beach is nearly empty. I jump out the car, wave to my mum and confidently stride over to them both, trying to hide my anxiousness.
When I reach them Finn awkwardly smiles at me and Andy says "ok you two, have a good time, and just remember I'll be watching from afar just to make sure you're getting along, is that ok?"
"Fine by me" I say, thank god andy is watching, there's no way anything will happen between me and Finn if he's around.
"We're getting along better already!" Finn says, putting his arm around me. Andy shakes his head and turns to leave us. I know he's just putting it on for Andy but it still sends shivers down my spine.

As Andy walks away I break the silence. "So, what do you want to do?"
"Well, it's a nice day, we may as well not waste it. Do you want to go for a swim?"
Surprised, I stutter "r-really? You want to actually try and get along?"
"Well yeah, we do need to pretend we're friends to andy, don't we?"

Oh. I thought he actually wanted to get along.

"Em, yeah totally. Cool. Let's go and pretend to have fun." I say starting to take my clothes off so we can go in the water.

~FINNS POV~

Holy shit. She's so beautiful. Seeing her run towards the water in her bikini, turning around and smiling at me, makes me wish even more that this is a real date.
Although, thinking about it, it kind of is. Because I'm pretty sure she likes me and I really really like her, so how is it not a date?

Oh yeah, maybe because she's dating Jaeden, not me.

I realise that I'm just stood here watching her like an idiot, so I take off my shirt so I'm just in my trunks and run after her.

The water is so amazing, the warm waves softly hitting me in the chest. I move closer to her, I can't help myself.

"Look I know I've been an asshole to you-"

"True." She interrupts, giggling. I love it when she giggles.

I laugh back "Well carrying on, I guess I want to apologise."
"Finn. Andy can't hear you, you know, why are you apologising?" She says, giving me a confused smile.
I take a step closer. "I'm being serious, Y/N. I didn't mean to make you cry that other day, or start drama with you and Jaeden, I guess I just wanted to know how you feel..." I look into her eyes, "...about me?"
She blushes, "I think you already know, Finn. But no matter how I feel it doesn't matter."
"Wait, why not?" I reply, grabbing her hands under the water. This actions sends blood to my cheeks. God, pull yourself together Finn.
"Because... I'm with Jaeden." She says sadly, pulling her hands away. It feels like a shard of glass in my heart.

"Look, we can't talk about this now, we're meant to be having fun!" She quickly says, splashing me, trying to lighten the mood. You see, that's why I love her, she always brings a smile to my face, no matter what.

Shit, did I just say I loved her?

~YOUR POV~

Finn splashes me back and we start having a total war, I guess both trying to forget that conversation that just happened.
"Hey, stop, STOP!" Finn chuckles. "Truce." He holds out his hand so I can shake it and end this war. Instead, I grab his hand and pull him under the water. When he emerges from the water, he looks adorably angry.
"Oh you're going down" He evilly laughs. I scream and try to run away, but he grabs me by my waist and puts me over his shoulder. I kick and scream for him to put me down.
"If you say so" he casually says, before throwing me back into the water.
When I get back up, I lightly punch him on the shoulder, "this isn't over, Wolfhard." I threaten, while walking out of the water.
"Where are you going?" He shouts after me.
"Follow me and find out!"

I walk across the beach, making sure to keep checking that he's behind me, "hurry up, Finn."
"Where the hell are you going!" He shouts after me, I just carry on walking, laughing to myself. This place means a lot to me and I guess I want to show him it.

When we finally get there, I sit down.
"Wow" he mutters.
"I know, isn't it beautiful?" I say looking out at the horizon. He sits down next to me, our bare shoulders touching. This is my favourite spot on the whole beach. It's a huge, smooth, shiny rock jutting out over the water. It seems as if the water carries on for miles and miles.

"What is this place?" He says, smiling at me, looking deep into my eyes. Our faces are only centimetres apart. He seems way more comfortable, now that we're away from everyone else at the beach.

"My dad used to bring me here when I was little, he used to bring two little foldable chairs for us and while he'd fish he'd tell me stories."
"Well, it's beautiful." He says, still staring at me. He takes hold of my hand gently.
"Yeah, I miss coming here." I reply, sadly. "My dad and mum split up a few years ago and he moved to France with his new girlfriend, so now I hardly see him." Tears are forming in my eyes.
Finn comes and pulls me into a warm hug. It feels so amazing to be in his arms. I nuzzle closer into his chest.

"Bet you're not missing Jaeden now, are you?" He says cockily.

"Are you serious?" I say angrily, pushing him away from me. "You just had to ruin it, didn't you? And I really thought you wanted to start things over and we could be friends!" I storm off and run across the sand back to the main beach. I can hear Finn shouting my name but I don't care. I brought to that special place, we were getting along so well, and he ruined it.

Andy stops me, "hey, hey, Y/N, what's up?"
"Your idea didn't work, just take us back to set, ok?" I snap, trying to hold back my tears.
"Yeah, sure, sure, get in the car."

I get in the back seat and slam the door, I can't believe I actually thought he was a good person.
