Meg and Calvin Return

Part 7

---Meg---

"Veronica?" Meg gasped. "What are you doing here?" Veronica smiled at her. "I came to get my cousin Calvin" she said. Meg felt relieved. They were cousins! Not anything like what she had been picturing. But then again, she thought, this is Veronica Kiley. She was bitter, deceiving and crude.
"Meg" veronica said, snapping her out of her thoughts. "I'm sorry that I was so horrible to you. I have this problem with myself I've been trying hard to fix but instead of talking to someone about it I took my anger out on you. And Calvin told me all about how good of a friend you are to him, and I hope we could be good friends like that someday".
Meg stood gobsmacked. Was Veronica trying to be... nice to her?
"Um sure!" Meg managed to choke out. Calvin smiled at her. "Calvin, we gotta go" Veronica said.
Calvin nodded and picked up his bag. He hugged megs parents, then Charles Wallace, then Meg. "Calvin" Veronica said boredly. Calvin kissed Meg quickly before walking out of the door and closing it behind him.

---Calvin---

As soon as Veronica opened the door, Calvin was smothered in a hug. "Calvin! Its been so long since we've seen you!" He heard his Aunt Alyssa cry happily. As she released him, he also saw the smiling faces of his Uncle Josh, Veronica and his other cousins Sam and Cleo. They all hugged him, and Sam took Calvin up to his room that they would share. And as Sam was talking, he heard his phone buzz. He checked his phone and smiled when he saw the name.

M: how's it going over at the hell house?xx
C: hey they're the good part of my family xx
M: well because you an be trusted and Veronica tried to be nice, I'll return the favor xx
C: Thats the spirit happy girl :)xx

"Oooohh Calvins got a girlfriend!" Said a giggly 12 year old behind him. Calvin laughed and pinned Sam to the bed. "She's not my girlfriend you weirdo. She's just my friend". They both sat up.
"So you have no feelings for this Meg whatsoever?" Sam asked, wide eyed. Calvin sighed. "Meg knows how I feel and doesn't really seem to know what she feels" he said sadly. Sam punched him gently in the shoulder. "Hey, tell her that". Calvin smiled at his little cousin and opened up his phone.

M: hey I'm many things but I'm not in the category
      of a happy girl :|xx
C: Ah well, they can't all be winners ;)xx
     Hey Meg, can you meet me in the park?xx

He waited nervously.

M: Umm sure ill meet you there in about an hour xx
      I have stressful homework to do :/ xx
C: Great!xx

Calvin smiled at Sam. "Im meeting her in the park later" he said happily.
"Great" Sam said standing up. "Until then,".
Sam pulled Calvin off the bed and pinned him to the floor, laughing.

---Meg---

She lay on her bed, confused. Why would Calvin want to meet her? And why couldn't it be said over texts? Well, whatever it was, she'd find out soon enough. And she didn't have time to think about Calvin right now, she had unwanted Math homework right in front of her. She could worry about Calvin later. But she couldn't help smiling as she looked up out of the window and seeing Sam Kiley in his room wrestling happily with an older boy with gorgeous blue eyes and floppy brown hair.

1 hour later, she was sat on a bench in the park waiting for Calvin. She looked around the park at all the other people there. Mums taking their newborn babies for a walk, a cute young girl sat reading a book and not noticing she was getting attention from a cute boy around the same age, even 2 shadowy figures dressed in black in the shrubbery nearby. But she was drawn out of her thoughts by the arrival of Calvin. "Hey" he said happily, sitting next to her on the bench.
"Hey" she said smiling back. "Did you want to tell me something?" Calvin nodded and Meg looked nervous as he took a deep breath. "Meg..." Calvin started, but he was interrupted.

"Well, well, Meg Murray after all this time" Meg looked up at the boy and grinned excitedly. "Jonah?"
